We've just returned from a week at the Peninsular -its a great hotel to spend some time in on a trip to Guernsey. Yes as previously talked about, the rooms and hotel corridors are slightly still in the 80s - but the location, public areas and most of all, the wonderful staff more than make up for this! We used the restaurant for our evening meal 3 times in the week -great food and great value. We paid for a sea view which was well worth it . The hotel pool is the warmest outdoor pool Ive ever been in and all in all, the hotel is perfectly situated for however you want to spend your a break in Guernsey!

I'd never been to Guernsey before, so my only view was the outdate images you can find on Google. My husband, who'd been a number of times as a child, warned me that any hotel we stayed in would not be comparable with any around the rest of Europe as Guernsey was behind the times (in a good way)
The Peninsula was great, yes, it reminded me of the large hotels I stayed in as a child around the UK with it's wood pannelled reception and lounge bar entertainment. But the rooms were large (large enough to fit a travel cot in for our son and still have plenty of room for stuff), the staff were brilliant, and it was great to have a swimming pool to relax in every day too. The bedroom was always very clean and tidy, but slightly outdated, although they did appear to be in the process of updating all rooms, and ours seemed next on the list.
We didn't eat any meals other than breakfast at the hotel, but that was great in itself. Plenty of choice of cereals, bread, pastries, fruit and cooked stuff. It did also seem popular for locals, tourists and residents for evening meals, but we preferred to explore the rest of Guernsey. As in a previous review, the restaurant manager seemed to be around all the time and was always very friendly and efficient. The reception staff were also very friendly and helpful, booking our trip to Sark for us, etc.
Other reviewers have mentioned location. I think this is a great place to base yourself, as you will either hire a car or bring your own across, from here you are only 5 mins away from loads of other places, so you can watch the sunset from the rocks by the hotel, or drive elsewhere. I preferred being away from St Peter Port, etc so we could go in when we felt like it.
The majority of the other residents would be approaching retirement, but it was during term time, so perhaps there are more families there in the holidays. But our son didn't mind, he enjoyed the attention of being the only baby in the hotel!
The whole trip went so well, that we would consider going back to Guernsey in the future, and we wouldn't hesitate to book the Peninsula again.

We spent four nights at the Peninsula and on the whole we were satisfied about it. Breakfast, bed and staff were good. The bathroom can use some renovation, and I don't understand that there are still hotels that use showercurtains. In this case the bath was so tight that the curtain sticked at your body. I really hate this.
Next time I would prefer a hotel closer to town, so it will be easier to get somewhere.

This hotel is one I will revisit definitely. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff - everyone is only too pleased to assist you in any matter at any time. The restaurant staff are all very helpful too and the restaurant manager is super-efficient and extremely good at his job, he works tirelessly and seems to be on duty always!! The food here is superb. In particular I must recommend the seafood buffet which was simply amazing. Then location of the hotel is stunning with fantastic views across the bay and beautiful gardens. This hotel is wonderful and I can't wait to go there again.

The Peninsula was recommended to us by a local person for sunday lunch and it was great - but make sure you book, it's full of local people (and that must be a recommendation!) The starter is a huge buffet - take care not to fill up too much on this!!

We normally stay with famiy in Guernsey but on this occasion we decided we needed our own space and as we were meeting relatives for a lunch on Easter Sunday we decided on the Peninsula Hotel.

We arrived by ferry from Jersey and it took literally 10 minutes drive to the hotel (ok I knew the way but its fairly easy) there is a large car park to the rear of the property and plenty of space out front to drop bags. We were met with a very warm smile and welcome from the receptionist and check in was quick and easy. Our room on the 1st floor had a sea view and a nice corner alcove where a single bed was for my 7 year old daughter. We had a huge comfortable double bed for us. The decor was fresh and the furnishings look contemporary and new.

Worried we were quite late arriving we were pleased that the Bar and Restaurant served food until 9 so had a really nice bar meal in the evening. Good fresh tasting food with good sized portions was served with a smile.

The next morning Breakfast was a delight with all the choices one would expect with hot buffet, Croissants, Cereals, Yoghurts etc. The hot buffet was missing Bacon and Fried eggs but the resaurant manager advised that fresh food was being prepared and would be just a moment, as soon as it arrived he made a point of coming to our table to let us know.

The staff throughout were very freindly and approchable, even my 7 year old mentioned to the receptionist she did not like the Ginger nuts placed with the tea making facilities in the room so the receptionist personally arranged a choice of different biscuits instead!

In all an excellent hotel in a great location with simply superb staff.

This was my third trip to the Peninsula. As usual, up to my expectations. We stayed 5 nights over Christmas. The food was fabulous; the staff are, as usual, very friendly and always there to help. Admitted, it does need a bit of updating. They are re-carpeting the bed rooms in January 10. and the bathroom is getting a little tired. This won’t stop me going back next year.
The Lounge seating does need a bit of re-arranging – too many large groups of chairs. The heating is controlled from Reception. It is turned off during the day, but we did ask for it to be turned on one very cold afternoon. Reception obliged.
