A pretty blue-painted end of terrace pub, located opposite the Martello Tower (built in 1851). Cosy interior with a nautical theme and red-and-white checked tablecloths. Really friendly service, with a charming waiter/barman. Reasonably priced food and drink ... But the place is let down by its food. My battered haddock was all too obviously not made on the premises but came from the deep freeze section of Iceland or somewhere similar. Such a shame. The menu says Traditional British and Portuguese Cooking. The lovely barman (Ricardo?) said that his mum is Portuguese and used to work there. Unfortunately, she doesn't work there now ...

We found this pub by accident yesterday and just popped in for a lunchtime drink but we saw what the other customers were enjoying and decided to join them. I had the beef which was excellent and my wife the chicken, The food was excellent with 2 types of potatoes and masses of veg and excellent value one slight criticism was the Yorkshire , not as crisp as it should be. The pub was characterful with friendly staff and great views over the estuary. My one real problem is lack of disabled facilities in the toilets.

Went here after visiting Pembroke Castle. Had a few pulled pints and the fish and chips. Beer was delicious. Went back the next day for the Sunday carvery. Wow what a meal. My wife had the beef, I had the chicken and our companion had the pork. Everything was cooked perfectly and was served quickly with a smile. They had every vegetable under the sun and of course Yorkshire Pudding. Although we are from the States, we hope to get back to this little gem of a place.

We decided to have our gardening business Christmas meal at The Shipwright on 13th Dec, and we weren't disappointed. For starters the Garlic Mushrooms are to be recommended, just the right amount of creamy garliciness and a nice crusty roll, hubby had the pate which he loved. For mains I had the Gammon and Pineapple, the gammon was tender and flavoursome and the chips perfect. Hubby had Beef Bourguignon which he said was delicious and our friend had the Lamb Shanks which were done to perfection.
The pub wasn't very busy which was a shame and a bit surprising, but it was a horrible night weather wise so perhaps people just stayed at home. The barman Ricardo was friendly and displayed just the right amount of attentiveness, thanks.

We visited The Shipwright Inn on Friday 20th September. We had not booked so very lucky to get in. It is a typical Welsh Pub and the owner is a real nice guy. We ordered a curry with rice and a bowl of chips. The taste of the curry was excellent and we very much enjoyed it. For desert we had Eton Mess which is gorgeous. Following the meal we had a French Coffee which was equally good. This pub is ideal if you are staying in the Travel Lodge about 300 yards away. The next day we sailed to Ireland.
