“Great food in a pretty village”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

Had to wait until Tuesday to sample the fare, but well worth the wait. My girlfriend, my dad and I had the mussels with fries and bread and enjoy the lot. My mum had the fish and chips, which where ok although the chips were a little dry. It's a beautiful well run, friendly place a thoroughly recommended it. Would be nice to see a little more ale variation at the bar, but on the whole excellent.

“Friday nights are busy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

We arrived at 1730 and food orders aren't taken till 1800 but that was fine as the choice of beer was good, although not large.

A wide and diverse menu with choices ranging from pub classics to gastro. Portion size was very good and served efficiently and swiftly. A couple of pints each for the boys, plus a couple of glasses of wine each for the girls plus 2 haddock and trimmings (light fish, crispy batter, homemade tartare sauce), with 2 game pies (strong gamey meat and shortcrust pastry) cost a little under £80, Very good and the old school postcards in the gents are worth a look too.

“Lovely pub and excellent meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

The Old Ship is a lovely little pub with a super atmosphere, excellent ale and a great choice of home cooked food. We visited on the off chance and were welcomed warmly and received excellent customer service and value for money.

“Warm and Cozy ambiance.. Very good service. Food was delicious.”

This place is usually crowded in the evening. So be patient for the table. Your wait will be definitely worth it.
