This accommodation really is top notch. So well appointed and equipped. We spent five nightsi in Lodge 2 and loved every minute. The Although there are other lodges nearby, all are in their own wee patch and it truly feels like you are in your own magical world with a stunning view from the balcony over Loch Ewe. Oh, those sunsets! Worth staying up for.
Lots to do in the area if you can drag yourself away from the peace & tranquility of your lodge. Poolewe Tuesday market is fabulous. So much local produce and many different crafts on offer. Excellent selection of boat trips from Gairloch harbour. There's parking to leave your car beside the harbour. Give yourself a day to enjoy beautiful Inverewe Gardens. There's a delightful wee cafe in Poolewe- Bridge Cottage cafe with yummy hot chocolate, cakes, scones, scrambled eggs etc all freshly made on site by the young owners. Vegan friendly. Lots of stunning beaches to explore all around the coast - including Gruinard Bay and at Cove. There are afternoon teas & an exhibition with crafts on Wednesdays & Fridays at the old school in Inverasdale. Cakes made by the talented local ladies.
If you don't want to go far from your lodge, there's a great cafe just down the hill - Oran Na Mara - and the local shop & deli in Aultbea is well worth a visit. Amazing selection of things!
So...what are you waiting for? Go, go, go. I can't wait to return. Hope there's availability!
Very nice lodge, clean and well appointed. The view from our lodge was fantastic. Views of eagles from the lounge. About 6km from inverewe gardens which are well worth a visit.
I've stayed a few times now at these lodges and they're superb, can't recommend them highly enough. They're furnished and equipped to a very high standard and immaculately clean. The owners have clearly stayed in lots of self-catering cottages and thought of everything than you can possibly need for your stay.
Loved our stay at Aultbea Lodges! We were two couples and the lodge was perfect - big enough to accommodate us and all our gear and not feel cramped. The lodge was very clean and well-presented, and we had everything we could ask for and more in the way of kitchen equipment and supplies. We stayed in Lodge 2 and loved the view over Loch Ewe. For a very reasonably priced self-catering getaway with fantastic hiking and climbing nearby, Aultbea Lodges is a great find.
We live on the Isle of Skye and wanted a few nights away. When we came across Aultbea Lodges, we knew we had found the perfect place for us.
From the minute we contacted Emma and Mark, it was such a great experience. They are friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about their business and the surrounding area.
We visited in June and stayed for 4 nights. Our lodge was pet friendly which meant we could bring our two friendly Miniature Schnauzers. Our children are 4 years old and 18 months and had their own bedroom. Emma had left a box of toys for them to play with as well as books, a night light and a high chair with splash mat - all extremely thoughtful and very much appreciated. There were even some rubber ducks in the bath!
The lodge has a balcony with stunning views over Aultbea, but is surrounded by gorgeous trees and planting, giving you lots of privacy. The balcony is secure, so no risk of the kids "escaping" down steps. You also have a picnic table outside your lodge too.
The kitchen literally contains everything you need - and I mean everything. I think it was better equipped than my one at home!
There is loads of information on the local area provided in the lodge. But Emma and Mark are always happy to suggest ideas if you need them to.
Aultbea is a great location, with easy drives to Gairloch, Ullapool and surrounding area. We visited the Cafe opposite the lodges, called Oran Na Mara and had gorgeous sandwiches made with homemade bread. We also visited Mellon Udrigile Beach, just a short drive away, which is stunning. Not to be missed.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend. You had better book fast as I suspect they are going to be very busy!
Many thanks to you both for a wonderful break and we wish you all the best.
See you again soon!
