“Home from home”
Reviewed April 21, 2017 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed last year (May) and are already booked again for 2017. Stunning views, comfortable lodge - Emma and Mark seem to have thought of everything - down to the bird food.... Can't recommend highly enough and sorry its taken so long to post.

It was lovely to receive your return booking for this year, and thanks for leaving a review. Glad you liked having the bird seed, we love watching the birds come to our feeder and thought that guests might too :0)

“Fantastic, relaxing few nights in a warm and cosy lodge with everything we could need”
Reviewed April 20, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

There is so much to do an explore locally. We would recommend the restaurant and bar food at the Aultbea hotel. We also had a lovely breakfast from the Cafe just by the lodges. We visited the Smokehouse in the village and have some Smoked Salmon on mail order to our house.

We explore many beaches and saw lots of wildlife on the way. We also went on woodland walks and to waterfalls.

“Long weekend in Aultbea”
Reviewed September 19, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Another trip to Aultbea but thought we'd give these lodges a try after a 3 year gap. Brilliant decision, absolutely great with a better equipped kitchen than mine, lots of helpful extras like washing powder for the washing machine, tin foil, coffee and tea, plus tons more and too much to list. Comfy, warm beds plus mattress heaters while the bathroom is very well equipped too. Comfy sofas to enjoy the multi channel tv AND unusually for that area, good, free WiFi to keep the kids happy. Brilliant lodges and Emma very helpful throughout.

“Wonderful Highland Holiday”

We are a family of four, two children aged 10 and 6. Our lodge (no.1) was immaculately clean when we arrivied, and contained everything we could possibly need. Some fantastic touches like washing powder, family friendly games, and ample plug points for phone charging. We also loved the touch sensitive lamps in the bedroom providing a really helpful nightlight for children a bit frightened of a new bedroom.
Emma was fantastic, on hand for questions and going above and beyond the call of duty by bringing our washing in when it rained one afternoon.
This is a beautiful location, and we were so lucky with glorious sunny days for most of the week. We spotted birds and bats from the lodge, and today a buzzard sat very briefly on the balcony.
Thanks to Emma for recommending the Shellfish Safaris. This was the highlight of my holiday - we ate freshly caught mackerel for dinner this evening and had an exciting trip out on Ian's boat. We'd also recommend the beach on the road to Cove and the fish and chip van at Poolewe on a Friday night.
It is hard to fault the lodges. My only feedback would be to provide a midge proof net door for the french windows as the lodge was very hot in the evening and impossible to open the door unless we wanted to be eaten alive. The amazing sunsets made up for the heat though.
Thank you to lodge owners, we've had such a restful holiday, and will recommend to friends.

It sounds like you had a great holiday! Thank you for your detailed review, very helpful for other guests and really nice to hear that the things we provided were useful, it was a pleasure helping you.
Wonderful to hear you enjoyed all the fabulous wildlife and caught your own dinner :0)

The bedroom windows will have midge blinds fitted for next year.
We intended to add midge blinds to the bedroom windows this summer, to allow the windows to be open and air the lodges without letting any midges inside. Unfortunately the first one we tried was not fit for purpose and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing from that supplier, we bought another from a different company. This arrived last week and does work, but now the season is nearly over!
The sliding door is more complicated and there is no easy, effective fix for ours (except keeping them closed!)
We do have fans available if the Lodges get too warm.
On a positive note, the midges are not always around and then usually only for a couple of hours in the morning and early evening.

“Wonderful stay - thank you!”
Reviewed August 14, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We are a family of three plus small dog. We had an absolutely magical stay. We found the lodge to be perfect in every way. We spent many an evening sitting admiring the view from the balcony (stunning). Lots of wildlife to watch in the garden too (birds, bats & I think we heard deer just over the wall too). Sunsets were fantastic. The lodge is well equipped with lots of thoughtful details. It was immaculate and really lovely (sorry - not sure how to summarise it except to say - go there, experience it & enjoy... but leave a week free for us to return!!). In terms of activities.... We enjoyed cycling around the Flowerdale estate in Gairloch & also had a great cycle run to Slaggan Bay. We did not get a chance to sample the food at the nearby Aultbea hotel because we were just too busy exploring!! We would highly recommend Aultbea Lodges and hope to return someday soon.

Thank you for your review. So nice to hear that you had a great stay and would like to come back!
I expect you did hear a deer, they do come down through the grounds on occasion and just spotted one jumping our fence last week :0)

“Excellent accommodation in a great location”
Reviewed August 4, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The Wester Ross coastal trail is relatively quiet but offers stunning views for travelers of all sorts - drivers, hikers and cyclists - for those prepared to make the journey.
Aultbea Lodges are a credit to Emma - you won't find better value accommodation anywhere with regards to space, comfort, equipment and location.
We are a family of four - children are 17 and 20 - and there was plenty of space. Wi-fi connection in the lodge was also very good. I would definitely go back and would recommend Aultbea Lodges to friends with no hesitation.

Thanks for the lovely comments, but I can't take all the credit, guests don't always get to meet my partner Mark, but he is the other half of Aultbea Lodges, so on behalf os us both Thank you :0)
