This is a bulk standard Mercure 3 star hotel. Clean and tidy with very pleasant staff who seem to do everything between them and always seem to be on duty. We had an upgrade to an executive room -- more space. The Hotel was very warm and bedrooms were a little too warm but you can adjust the heat yourself. We were on an all inclusive offer but did not take the lunches as we were sight seeing. Hotel did not offer packed lunch alternative to the soup and sandwiches on offer. A little secluded if you do not want to drive anywhere once you have got there. A 15 minute walk will take you to Little Sutton station with excellent links to Liverpool and Chester running every 30 minutes. All in all a good weekend.

Room Tip: ask for an upgrade

Is a great place to stay at if you needed to access either Liveerpool or Chester or both.
Found the train from Hooten to Liverpool, as suggested by hotel staff, was an easy and efficient way to get to Liverpool attractions.

All in all, a satisfactory stay - a family room for us and our grandaughter at a decent rate. The staff were welcoming and the room was good - a king sized double bed for us and a generous single for the little one. ( the pillows were very hard )

The menu was adequate for us and the service was really slick - friendly and efficient throughout our stay. The food was well presented and the dining was more than acceptable throughout.

Points to note:

Our family room was conveniently situated near to the leisure facilities, which made it easy for our 11 year old to pop back and forth. We were told, however, that the leisure club closed at 9 pm and were assured that this would be the case. On our second night, however, the loud banging music and the shouting from the fitness room, about 12 metres from our bedroom, was still continuing at 10 pm.

When I found a member of staff to complain, she said, " Oh, are they a bit noisy? "

It begs the question

* did the staff member know who these people were?
* why was the centre still open?
* are there rules for the centre, or not?
* if there is going to be an abuse of the centre timetable, why are families with young children put in rooms close by?

We then had to spend the next three hours ( until at least 1 am ) being disturbed by the shrieking and laughter of young people outside our room.

Verdict: Actually a good value stay, ruined by the second night's experiences. An opportunity for the hotel to attract us back completely spoilt. Never again.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to give feedback on your recent visit to the Mercure Chester North, I am somewhat disappointed that what was overall a pleasant experience was spoilt by the noise from the leisure club late into the evening and for this I would like to take the chance to personally apologise.

I do hope this does not deter you from giving us another opportunity in the future

Kind regards

Very hard to find this hotel. Apparently a new housing estate has been built since the Sat Nav post code was given to the hotel. You will eventually find the hotel. Clean hotel, and good value for money for an overnight stay in the Liverpool area.

We stayed as a family in a double plus single bed.(the double more like 6ft bed lovely) Our greeting when we arrived was very warm and helpful. I am a coeliac and was able to take my own cereal to breakfast, however was assured they could have catered for me if I wanted.Hubby and daughter thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. We used our Avios points for our 3 day stay. Our daughter is only 6 and thoroughly enjoyed the pool. Made our holiday really relaxing as she has just learnt to swim. The pool was very warm and often we had it to ourselves. Our room was on the ground floor really close to the leisure area. Very clean and comfortable, our room was cleaned everyday we were there. Lots of tea and coffee etc replenished every day.
Great location for outlet and chester we went to Collesium by Chester Oaks to eat each night. As only 10- mins drive away,TGI fridays,Prezzo,Nandos,Millers etc. Even a cinema and bowling here.
Only slight negative for Hotel was the fire alarm at 5.20am on our last day, which thankfully was a false alarm caused by the steam from a kettle-not ours!! Not very nice woken from deep sleep frantically rushing to get family out. Then having to calm 6 yr old daughter down.. However on reflection added fun value. And most exciting part for daughter. All she has told family about on our return-the fire bell in the night..

Room Tip: we were on ground floor right y the pool. Convenient if you will use the facilities.

Stayed here on an all-inclusive deal with a girlfriend, It was really well located for getting to Liverpool and Chester (we chose Chester!).

We used the pool, steam room and sauna and although they were alright there wasn't much atmosphere.

Our room was clean and tidy if a little warm at night. The bathroom was lovely. Clean, specious and modern.

As part of an all-inclusive deal the meals were lovely. Breakfast was ample. The evening meal was great. The best service we had all weekend was from a lovely woman in the restaurant called Prakit. She was there morning and night and she was always so smiley and friendly.

Main critical feedback would be that there just didn't seem to be enough staff on. More than once we waited quite a while for a drink at the bar. Also, there wasn't really an atmosphere in the hotel and bar- just Sky News on. I imagine if there's a crowd of you then you'd make your own atmosphere. My friend and i made a beeline to a local pub with a band on after the free bar ended. Overall though we thought the all inclusive deal was brilliant value.
