I stayed in this hotel for one night with my 2 sons. The staff were very helpful and kind to the children. The weather was lovely which meant we were able to use the lovely grounds for our picnic and the boys enjoyed playing in the gardens. We used the swimming pool which was clean and had a good shallow end for the children. We ate in the bar and were able to sit outside. There is not a great deal of choice on the menu, especially if you do not want to eat meat but the food was nice when it arrived. With such beautiful views we really enjoyed our evening. Our room was very hot as it was sunny and there is no air conditioning in the rooms but the fan did help a little. Breakfast was nice and there was a lot of choice. Great location for Peppa Pig world and exploring the New Forest.

We stayed here and had the most wonderful time, the room was spacious, clean and the staff were friendly and the location is brilliant. The food was lovely and we had a relaxing time in the pool and sauna. Will be booking here again.

i just came back from my dads wedding and must say i thought as a wedding venue, this was gorgeous. The pool, although small was not in use much so my family had this to ourselves. The venue has character in the drawing rooms and the wedding breakfast was just amazing - nothing wrong with it at all. Our room was very large and well catered for with our 7 year old. I would say some of the staff especially in the bar could do with some help, 1 bar staff member for a wedding isn't enough. However, beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting with stunning grounds - would visit again

my husband and i visited bartley lodge for afternoon tea on sunday and we weren't disappointed. lovely conservatory laid out for the teas, warm and cosy even though it was a chilly day and lovely outlook onto the gardens and beyond. the tables were laid nicely and the staff very willing and helpful. tea consists of 2 scones, cream and jam, 2 cakes and 3 finger slice of sandwich each. just enough. very relaxing.

We had a great stay - the staff were really friendly and it was good value (we had the deal where you get breakfast and £25 towards the evening meal, booked directly via the hotel website). We were a bit worried about going with our 3 year old daughter (as we weren't sure how family orientated it was from the photos) but the staff were really, really friendly and made us feel very welcome (and there were quite a lot of other families with young kids staying too). The rooms were very clean, recently decorated, with only a few minor niggles. The food was really good - the steak, fish and lamb in particular. The grounds were beautiful with lovely views. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

We purchased a couple of nights at the hotel on a 'special deal' and fully expected that our room would not be one of the better ones, however, this was not the case.
The room was a very pleasant twin bedded room. The beds were queen sized and there was a small raised sitting area. The bathroom was on the small side but perfectly clean and usable with plenty of hot water and complementary toiletries. We ate dinner in the hotel on our first night which we both enjoyed. I suspect that our young waitress was a little inexperienced but not enough for it to have been a problem and she was polite and friendly. Breakfast on both mornings was delicious and freshly cooked and we were offered additional toast and tea/coffee and all was served in the conservatory overlooking the hotel grounds and the forest.
Both the checking in and checking out procedures were prompt and efficient.
The cleaner that was servicing our room when we returned to our room after breakfast was most apologetic and offered to leave immediately and come back later. She also enquired if there was anything we wanted more of, either in the bathroom or on the tea tray etc.
The public areas of the hotel were lovely with comfortable sofas and chairs around an open fire in the main lounge and a smaller well decorated area out near the bar.
There was also a pool and sauna - neither of which we used.
All in all it was a most enjoyable stay which I would happily repeat and recommend to friends.

Room Tip: We stayed in room No19 which overlooked the front of the hotel, which was on the second floor - the...

First things first, the lodge is beautiful, we stayed in one of the crown rooms and was well worth the extra £20 a night. The room was clean and well appointed.
The views at the rear of the hotel where excellent and the New Forest in general was wonderful, we will definately be going back.

Then we come to dinner..... My partner and I both ordered the 28 day hung Steak (mine Med Rare, her Medium). Mine came out well done, hers came out charcoal. Frankly it could of been a slab of horse meat, I wouldn't of been about to tell because it had been chargrilled to a cinder. I can get a far better steak from my local pub for £6 than the £20 steak here which is a real shame because otherwise the food wasn't that bad, and it wasn't just that it was overcooked, I'm just not sure why you would chargrill a nice piece of hung steak in the first place, they managed to lose any taste from the meat. Dinner felt pretty rushed with courses delivered very quickly (sure some people like to eat like that but it would of been nicer to take 5 mins between courses). Breakfast cereal / fruit selection could be a little broader. Could do without 48 hours of Celine Dion on constant loop, perhaps a little variety here.

The wine was very nice, we had the Chilean Malbec, mark up was about 100% so what I'd expect in a restuarant.

The second night we stuck to the bar menu, where we had two courses and 2 sides for half the price of the restuarant. Really if the hotel can find someone that can cook a steak they'll made much more money from return customers.

I've seen service knocked a lot on these reviews. I have to say we had no problems at all. Every member of staff we spoke too couldn't be nicer or more helpfull.

Room Tip: We phoned asking about an upgrade 8 weeks before the visit and were told £40 a night. We phoned ba...
