For 10 years, my husband and I have been regularly dining at this hotel and occasionally staying there. Last week, we stayed there again and were upgraded to an absolutely beautiful room. However, our restaurant experience was spoiled by an officious, domineering, unfriendly and sharp FEMALE restaurant manager. Normally there is an extremely efficient and caring male restaurant manager, but he was obviously not there this time. His replacement left a lot to be desired. She demanded that we went instantly to our table from the lounge. She refused our request for a particular type of table. She never smiled once, and made no effort to be friendly. I have to say that the food was once again, absolutely perfect but I hope we don't run into her again. She is wrong for this position. The rest of the staff were, as always, perfect.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are enormous.

I booked a two night stay here as a surprise for my wife on our 1st Wedding Anniversary. Situated in beautiful grounds with several lakes, peaceful walks, and majestic fountains Tylney Hall is an impressive sight as you approach the car park. Our superior deluxe double room was attractive, spacious and clean. The bathroom was also clean and a good shower over the bath. There is an outdoor pool for summer use and a smallish tepid indoor pool for winter use. Also a well-equipped gym and spa. In the evening we at their Oak Room Restaurant, a lavishly decorated oak panel clad room. The winter menu was the same both nights but had a good choice of food. The wine list is vast and sorted into country and region with prices to suit all budgets. Yes over all it is expensive but the quality, service and surroundings was, to me, well worth the experience. Breakfast was very good too. Both Continental and Full English were available with plenty of choices. Had a great stay here and would recommend it happily.

Having enjoyed watching the "behind the scenes" recent BBC2 program on Claridges, I can honestly say that our weekend at Tylney was a good match.

Our suite/ the service in general and food in the Oak Room were all superb.

What a splendid treat.

This was first visit to Tylney and it was very disappointing. My girlfriend arrange the stay and has been there many times over a ten year period. She was particularly upset and angry with stay as she said the place had gone down hill badly and wanted the stay to be special. The food was utterly rubbish. Without going into every last detail, but as an example the sandwiches were of lesser quality than a pre packed Tesco sandwich but clearly 6 times more expensive. The windows everywhere in the place we're filthy. It is set in the most amazing grounds but from the inside looking out it looked permanently misty due to the windows. This is my opinion looks like a failing hotel! It is a fantastic building in beautiful grounds and really looks the part, but unfortunately it does not live up to its look. A top class venue with nothing more than a 3* service etc. As for the food, I wouldn't fed it to my animals! I must say in the defence of two of the staff, one who worked very hard to rectify the problems and compensate us, although the problems weren't rectified but we were compensated. The other was one of the waiters who should be promoted immediately and they should focus training some of the rest of the staff based on this chap. My final words are: if you go here having been before or if you've stayed at other similarly rated hotels be pr pared to be disappointed. Shame!

This is our second trip to Tylney with our children (although I have stayed here with friends and with my husband on other occasions as well!). As usual the welcome was excellent and the staff were very helpful. We were put in room 25 which is in the main house and has been recently decorated. The decor chosen is very classy and suits the traditional setting of the house. The facilities within the room were great, there was a large TV in the lounge area which our two boys loved! The shower had really good pressure, the boys the bath and the room was spotlessly clean.

We enjoyed exploring the grounds in our wellies (sadly all the snow had just melted so it was a bit wet on the grass) and our boys particularly enjoyed looking for monsters in the creep tunnel.

The breakfast was great as always and even though they were extremely busy the staff did an excellent job of serving us. A couple of members of staff had remembered us from previous visits and made a point of coming over to chat to us, this friendly atmosphere is one of the things I love about Tylney hall.

We are very much looking forward to visiting again soon!

Tylney Hall Hotel is in a class on it's own. When you arrive at the doors there is always someone to greet you. The Staff are excellent. The Lounge is a very relaxing place. Our stay was very enjoyable. You are treated very special from the moment you have your pre dinners drinks in the Lounge (with lovely pre dinner nibbles the staff give you). The Restaurant is first class and the food is excellent. We will be going back again and again and again.

We recently spent a two night break at Tylney Hall to recharge our batteries before returning to work after a hectic Christmas. We have been to Tylney Hall before with young children but only for one night and a long time ago. The children are now men! I would strongly recomend a two night stay as you really can relax and enjoy what Tylney has to offer. We managed to ride bikes around the estate, swim and play tennis of sorts! There is no fading grandure here as you see so often in older buildings and everything is as crisp and as slick as it was many years ago. The staff are fabulous and do everything possible to help you enjoy your stay. Bikes and tennis equipment was available imediately, restaurant staff were friendly and attentive, infact all staff are a credit to themselves, their training and the management.
We took advantage of the two for one deal and will certainly do so again.
