“A very pleasant experience”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Have just returned from a two night break at Ringwood, what a pleasant experience. The staff are very friendly and go that extra mile to make sure everything is just right. Our allocated room was lovely but a personal preference re the bathroom (noisy exractor fan) meant a relaxing bath was out of the question but on mentioning this to reception staff they went all out to find us a suitable and if I may say even more superior room. I cannot praise them enough for the effort they went to (it was after all 9.30pm).
We stayed in the main Hall which is very well decorated and maintained. Would recommend it!
My only critisism of Ringwood is the restaurant Dinner menu, very unadventurous, though very tasty it was basically glamourised pub food ie Gammon n chips, Fish n chips, Burger n chips etct will say it was well cooked but overpriced, sorry!
Would not hesitate to return to Ringwood thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will recommend it to friends wanting a couple of nights treat away.
Big pat on the back to the staff on duty 16th Feb.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 142 in the main house, beautiful.

Thank you for your review and delighted that you had such a lovely stay. It is always good to receive such pleasant feedback and to read that you had thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. Also pleasing to read that you plan to return !!

Our restaurant menu does change from January through to March to accommodate special offers that we run locally to generate business in our quietest time. The menu is simplified, so I can understand your feedback. I am certain that you will find it more adventurous on your return visit !!

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

This is the second visit to this hotel. The hotel is a large older style building, very quaint. Lots of corridors and stairs so difficult if you have trouble moving about. The staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. The room was very nice; clean, comfortable bed, plenty of room, good size TV and tea and coffee facilities. The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff were on hand the whole time if you needed extra coffee or help with anything! Had a weekend and would visit again!! A bonus to this hotel is the use of a lovely warm swimming pool and sauna and steam room.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely review and delighted that you had a lovely weekend.

Our newly refurbished Parklands Health and Fitness Club, is a great asset for guests staying on a leisure break and has some excellent facilities.

So pleased that you enjoyed the food and service, that is always good to read.

You might like to stay over next time with one of our Special Events. In addition to a range of events, we run two wonderful Black Tie Summer Balls in June, and with our superb gardens in full bloom, the setting is perfect for a great evening. Better still we offer some really competitive rates for guests staying overnight whilst attending these, with special consideration to upgrades for "regulars".

With two visits already and plans for a further stay, I would say that entitles you to "regulars" status. Feel free to mention it when making your next booking !!

We look forward to your next visit.

Made a booking for Valentines Night, even selected the same room in the Bothy,in fact I got wrong number room, should have got 408 but picked 409 where the windows are 5m from the road.Asked for a change but the rooms in the main hotel would suffer from the wedding celebrations and ball which would be just as noisy, but the offer was made.Fantastic room very well furnished and in very good condition, pity about the plastic glasses in the bathroom.Only problem there was no hot water to fill the enormous double bath.Contacted duty manager who was unable to help with the water but did offer a room with a shower/bath in the main building an hour later. The moment had passed. Dinner was great and enhanced by the complimentary drinks .The house guitarist was great. Breakfast was good. Next day we paid our bill and the problems we encountered were reflected by a suitable reduction. We will have no problem in staying at the Ringwood again.

Room Tip: Take care over room selection because this is a very popular hotel with lots of events, the reception...

Delighted to read that overall your Valentines stay with us was enjoyable.

Really sorry that you were unable to enjoy a hot bath. The Bothy rooms are as you say, fantastic rooms with corner baths and walk in power showers. The Charlie Markham Suite (408) is very special as it faces the courtyard, unlike some of the Bothy Rooms which do have a closer proximity to the road.

Delighted that you enjoyed our Valentine`s Dinner, with gentle background music provided by our resident guitarist James.

It is good advice to recommend that guests making reservations to stay at Ringwood discuss their requirements in detail with reception. We have 74 rooms in total, and as we are a converted country manor house, they are all very varied. Some are in the main house and easily accessed ( though we do not have a lift !), some of these are spectacular feature rooms with feature baths and/or four posters.

A proportion of our rooms are in our Garden Wing, overlooking our beautiful back gardens, and as a result are very peaceful. Some of our rooms are in a courtyard area requiring a walk through the woodland to access them. These rooms are designed to a high specification and receive considerable praise, though some are adjacent to the roadside, which can be challenging for light sleepers.

Check our image galleries on line and /or speak to a receptionist who will be delighted to assist you with your room selection, particularly if your planned visit is for a special occasion.

We hope that we have the opportunity of welcoming you back soon.

My parents held their Golden Anniversary Celebrations at the hotel at the weekend. My husband and I got married at Ringwood Hall several years ago so I knew we would be in safe hands. During the planning Rona went out of her way to make sure that Mum and Dad's day would be perfect, nothing was too much trouble for her, she always goes that extra mile and has the patience of a saint. Rona and her team made what was a very special day into a truly memorable day. The table was beautifully decorated and the service we received was truly fantastic nothing was too much trouble. The meal was superb and despite being a large party everybody's food was hot. Thanks also to John, Dan, Alan and young lady who served us at dinner we cant thank you enough. Superb!!

Wow, what a wonderful review thank you.so much !!

It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity of hosting your parent`s Golden Wedding celebrations at Ringwood Hall. Fifty years of marriage together is a wonderful achievement, deserving only the very best of service and care.

Thank you for your high praise of all those concerned in looking after your parent`s dinner party in our Chatsworth Suite. An elegant room, decorated in cream with its glittering crystal chandeliers and gold coving, it really presents the perfect setting for Golden Wedding celebrations.

On a personal note, I thoroughly enjoyed our meetings as we made the plans for the celebration. Your parents are great fun and a lovely couple to look after.

Delighted that it was such a resounding success and that you all enjoyed a fantastic evening with us at Ringwood Hall.

On behalf of the Team, I would like to wish your lovely parents many more years of good health and happiness together.

Came here in Jan 2013 for my best friends' wedding. Hotel staff were great all the way through, really helped us get everything sorted. I stayed the night before the wedding and managed to get reception to phone through when photographers arrived so I could greet them etc.
They treated us all so well and catered for everything my friends needed.
Breakfast was amazing! I'm always impressed when a place does friend AND scrambled egg, normally it's one. Also, they do hash browns. I love hash browns so this was a win immediately. I'm not sure I can find any faults with this place. My room was miles away but it was really big and great for the lads getting ready.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room, they're bigger/nicer. If you do, learn the shortcut from the end of...

Delighted that you had such a great time when you stayed with us for your best friend`s wedding.

Great fun and lots of happy memories !!

Really glad that you enjoyed breakfast, it is an important meal. Using buffet style service gives our guests the opportunity for more of a selection, and you can help yourself to as much or as llttle as you want. A definite bonus !!

Most of our rooms have enjoyed the benefit of refurbishment in the last three years, so I imagine that you are referring to the rooms converted in the old servant`s houses in the grounds. These are very large and have adjacent parking directly outside, not unlike being right next to your own front door. Adjacent to the road, some do have the potential for road noise, but generally this might only disturb a light sleeper !!

AS you say, there are some shortcuts easily found and they are really lovely rooms to stay in !

We hope to welcome you back in the future.

We had a room in the main hotel which was fine, although a long walk from reception and with all the odd sets of stairs a bit difficult. However this is better than the rooms at the gate, which are very noisy due to the road right outside and also a long walk to the main hotel, a problem especially if dining in the restaurant - beware this when booking! Food OK; staff excellent - apart from one...the barman emptied the whole bottle of tonic into my gin (I had earlier stopped a different one from doing the same thing) my complaint that I didn't want my gin drowned was ignored, blanked, not even an apology; payment required. Not wanting to make a fuss, I paid. A good service would have been an apology, a second gin in it or no charge or a new drink. Shame. And I might otherwise have had another so a lost sale there. Also, there is a crazy system to access wifi; it's free, so that's great, but please, it doesn't have to be that annoying!

Room Tip: Beware the noisy ones on the road.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely review following your wedding with us in December.

It was a pleasure liasing with you both as you planned towards the "Big Day" and to putting in place all those plans on the day.

It is always such a wise move to gather your friends and family around you the evening before the wedding to ensure that everyone has arrived safely, and can settle and relax together before the wedding day. No concerns about traffic holdups or delays to travel plans.

We do enjoy the benefit of so many diverse rooms with character and style. Head Housekeeper Sue and her team take great pride in presenting them to a very high standard, and we get many lovely comments about their cleanliness and presentation.

Thank you for your high praise of all the arrangements undertaken, and on behalf of all the team at Ringwood Hall, we wish you a long, healthy and happy life together, and of course to welcoming you back!
