We chose the Ringwood Hall Hotel as a great Peak District base to take our Daughter, Son in Law and 3m old Baby grandson for a short break. Booking was a great experience as our request for a quiet room for the new parents and Baby was very well met. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very helpful. On arrival we were shown to our adjacent rooms in an annex - the rooms were spacious with large queen size type beds and very good facilities with one room having wonderful views over the downs. The leisure complex was very close and the facilities clean and well looked after. The Swimming Pool was of a good size and great for the whole family. The Gardens are stunning and very well maintained - a fantastic venue for a wedding!
We only had Breakfast in the Hotel which was the usual buffet full english + continental + extras cooked to order. The Restaurant staff were very friendly and served us with a smile. The Reception staff also took an interest in our daily jaunts into the Peak District. Chesterfield is a lovely town and Chatsworth/Haddon Hall are about a 30 minute drive away. All in all a great base with well appointed and clean accommodation offering excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the downs or the Garden

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave such a lovely review following your Peak District Break.

Your description of the hotel and its facilities is quite delightful and yes, whilst we are a fantastic venue for a wedding, we are as you and your family found, also the ideal location for exploring the delights of the Peak District as well as providing excellent comfortable facilities for relaxation after a day`s outing.

Great advice to clients booking to discuss at length with reception the most suitable type of room to meet their specific expectations. Some rooms have lovely views of the gardens but are a distance from reception, others are very peaceful in the grounds but require a walk through the grounds to access the main building. Something for everyone!

We celebrated our 1st year Anniversary there after also having our wedding at Ringwood on the 21st July 2012 and our experiences were 'amazing' on both occasions.

The grounds are stunning and Ringwood hall is a superb wedding and anniversary venue.

All of the staff are outstanding, and made us feel as though we were the only ones there, especially MC John Ferguson.
John was amazing on the wedding day and kept everything in order, and even made a little time to chat and congratulate us on our 1st anniversary.

Thank you for two amazing day's full of memories, that are unforgettable.

Food is amazing! Bed comfortable and room clean. It is a bit old, has not got an elevator but apart from that perfect. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I am a regular customer and what I enjoy most is the restaurant. High quality food at reasonable prices.

Thank you for your amazing review. It`s quite delightful.

Unfortunately as a grade 11 listed building we struggle to get planning permission for an elevator but many of our rooms are located in the grounds and the lift is not really necessary.

Delighted that you visit regularly and hope to provide you with continued high quality food served by helpful friendly staff long into the future.

Thank you again.

We recently stayed at the hotel because we were meeting up with some friends and the location suited all of us. I had not realised, though, how good the location actually was. Although only minutes from Chesterfield itself, and no distance at all from the M1 and links to many major towns and cities, it actually seemed as if we were in the middle of the beautiful countryside. As we were lucky enough to have some glorious weather during our stay, we were able to take full advantage of the fantastic grounds and gardens surrounding the hotel.

As for the hotel itself, we were treated with courtesy and friendliness throughout our stay. The restaurant staff, particularly, were extremely efficient. I feel I must, however, single out one person particularly. Jordan, who welcomed us into the leisure suite on our second day, when we had decided to use the pool, could not have been more helpful and charming.

We will certainly return to Ringwood Hall - it was a most enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review which was a pleasure to read.

Situated on the gateway to the Peak and only 10 minutes drive from the M1, our location does prove to be ideal for many purposes whether that be corporate based, leisure, shopping, or like yourselves, a rendezvous between family and friends.

Delighted that you were able to take full advantage of our wonderful extensive grounds and gardens, and that you found a warm and friendly welcome from all those staff members with whom you had contact.

Your kind praise of Jordan in particular has been conveyed to him. Like all other members of the leisure team he is personable and friendly and will always go the extra mile.

We look forward to having the opportunity of assisting you with your return visit.

We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary as it had nice facilities and grounds. we booked the gatehouse suite and as we hadn't been before we didn't know what to expect.
We arrived at the hotel and went to reception, we were asked our names and given our room key and told where to go to find the room as it wasn't in the main building we did struggle to find it as it was hidden away behind the tree's...we did find it and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was and it was right next to the leisure building which was handy. We un packed and there was a lovely picnic bench near our building so we sat there and ate our picnic. We used the leisure facilities and they were lovely. We got ready for our dinner reservation and walked over to the main building we were greeted by a lovely lady who asked if we had a reservation...we said yes and she confirmed our name and lead us to the bar, we ordered drinks and she then brought us menu's to peruse and said she would be back later to take our order. we placed our order then about 5 minutes later we were shown to our table in the restaurant. We ordered wine and were treated really nice with lovely table service. We had a starter each and it was nice but over priced for what you get. We had main course which was nice but nothing special and to be honest the service was better than the food. We finished our main and took the wine we had left and sat outside. The grounds to this hotel are beautiful and I can see why its a popular place with weddings so many photo's to be had here. We went to breakfast the next day which was buffet style and it was just standard really nothing to wow about. We spent the day in the gardens as it was beautiful weather and we wanted to relax there was 2 weddings on and we didn't really hear or see much it seemed the organisation was really good. We went to dinner again but this time there was no greeting at the door, we went straight to the bar ordered a drink and sat outside until our reservation time. We went to the restaurant and was shown to a table, there was a few people in but it wasn't overly busy. We were not greeted the same as the Friday night which was a disappointment, we ordered a main each and no wine tonight, the food came and it was average. I only ate half of mine as it tasted rubbish so bland and wasn't pleasant at all...my husband ordered a curry which had chargrilled chicken in it (never seen that before). when they came to take the plates I told them the food was rubbish tonight and the service was not as good as the night before. Seems like when there are weddings on other guests are just left behind. The restaurant manager was pleasant and lovely about the situation but I just felt that if you have one way of greeting people it should be like that every night. I did not sleep well both nights as being in the gatehouse suite you are right next to a busy road and all you hear all night is traffic noise, which was just terrible.
Upon check out the receptionist was not really bothered...she just asked if we had a nice stay, when we hesitated and said....erm it was ok... she did not ask why or even care she just presented us with our bill and asked how we would like to pay.
Overall I did relax but the experience could and should have been better given the price they charge!!!!!!

Room Tip: Do not stay in the garehouse suite unless you like the sound of traffic noise.

Thank you for leaving your candid comments when you stayed recently for a weekend break specifically to celebrate your anniversary.

It is disappointing that you felt the need to provide unhappy feedback with regard to your second dining experience and, as you will be aware I have written to you under separate cover to discuss this experience with you further.

Whilst the Gatehouse Suite is without question adjacent to a main road, it is rare for us to receive feedback about disturbance. That night however, there was unusually high levels of emergency vehicle activity on the road and this would have possibly have contributed to your disturbed sleep.

On a brighter note however your description of our wonderful gardens and charming accommodation were clearly very enjoyable and conducive to your picnic arrangements.

Rest assured "non-wedding" guests are just as important to us and, as you can see from many other previous reviews in most cases we get it right for them too.

We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back and to ensuring that you receive the customary Ringwood Hall service, quality and value for money.

We stayed on the 6th Of July for our 1 year anniversary and again the staff and hotel at Ringwood were absolutely fantastic. As we entered reception we were given a lovely warm greeting by everyone. As we approached the desk we were greeted by a warm smile and welcomed back, without giving our names we were handed our room key and check in slip. We thought it was lovely that they had remembered our names.

There were three weddnsgs on in the hotel that day. My wife and I sat on the terrace and soaked up the sun and watched the days proceedings pass by. The staff were fantastic and despite having three large weddings to deal with we never once felt neglected as non wedding guests.

Our three course dinner was lovely as well. As we went onto the cocktail bar, we were greeted by a lovely young lady who looked after us for the whole meal, apologies I didnt get her name but she was super.

As I have stated previously with Ringwood it is the little things that sets it aside from the rest, from remembering us when we checked in, to staff wishing us a happy anniversary when we went for the meal without us saying anything, to every member of staff giving you a smile and a nod of the head as they walk by it is just a wonderful hotel.

The grounds are picturesque and the hotel itself is just beautiful. I cannot recommend this place enough, i gave them 10/10 for our wedding and definitely another 10/10 for a non wedding stay. I cant wait to come back after our first child arrives in September and use the facilities and wander through the beautiful gardens

To all at Ringwood keep up the great work and we look forward to seeing you all again and again

Stephen and Dawn Clarke

Room Tip: The suites are amazing, The Barlborough Suite was lovely and close to the bar and pool!
