We have eaten here about 8 or 9 times, the food is very good, a proper selection, freshly cooked using good ingredients. The service can be variable, but is friendly and it really depends who is there (or not there). The prices are relatively high, but we believe they are generally in line with the quality of the food. The primary reason we don't eat here more often is down to the premises themselves. The place is very noisy (every sounds echoes and bounces around) and it lacks atmosphere - the premises do not match the food quality - some additional soft furnishings would help, but it is all walls, windows and hard flooring and could possibly be readily addressed.

so, our recommendation would be to give it go, hopefully they restaurant area will be given a make-over at some time in the future. we will eat there again soon!

I just had another fine meal at Dante's. Have been going there since it opened five years ago so I am a regular but, even so, the other night I had as good a meal as I have ever had there. You can get Bruschetta Pomodor anywhere but not of Dante's quality, full rich tomato and rocket to the fore but its the olive oil, imported specially and used in all the cooking, which lifts it above the ordinary. I followed this with aspecial , Tagliatella Piccante, meat balls and small chunks of chicken in a delightfully spicy sauce, full but no too rich. A real treat and I hope it makes its way on to the regular menu. Followed this with the boss's wife's lemon cheesecake which always rounds off the evening well accompanied by a full bodied coffee. Top dollar. All the dishes here are based on best quality ingredients subtly combined so that sauces heaving with a mass of ingredients which can be found in restaurants elsewhere masquerading as Italian are not necessary. This Osteria is just like a good, friendly local restaurant in any southern Italian town where good food is appreciated. Only complaint is that on the night of our latest visit the people of Potters Bar didn't seem to realise that they have a gem like this in their midst.

Don't be fooled by the outside looking a bit cafe like, inside is completely different and very modern! The staff were extremely welcoming and our order was taken by the chef himself who also chatted with us after the meal. Very good food you could tell was freshly cooked with quality ingredients.Pretty reasonably priced too and they do mid-week set menus. We didn't even realise this restaurant was here but we will definitely be visiting again!

OK but spoiled by the fact it was almost impossible to hold a conversation; just bad acoustics and I guess they can't do much about that. Food was OK. Had to send one dish back as it was cold. Portion size of the starters were on the meager side and/or they were overpriced. Mains were good; especially the fish and the pizza. Insalata Mista was first class. Informal and relaxed service. Very popular place with a high turnover of tables - so probably need to book esp. on Saturdays.

10 of us had a great meal here. Between us we had a great variety of dishes and all were great. It's a small restaurant but we were all able to sit together. Enzo the chef / owner looked afterwards and has a real passion for his cooking. We had a great time and I only wished I lived nearer so I could visit more often.
