Whilst searching for that elusive ground floor B&B accomodation at an afordable price, we stumbled across Springwell Barn situated twixt Rickmansworth and Uxbridge beside an idyllic unspoilt area of the Grand Union canal. What a gem and certainly a place to recommend to all our friends, especially if they have mobility problems.
We stayed in the self-contained en-suite Annexe room ... having an enormous comfortable bed (often a rarity in many b&b's today), with a kitchen dining and lounge area. Our hosts were a delightful welcoming young couple who made our stay in part of their wonderfully restored 17thC English barn, a most agreeable experience. We will return next year ... if only for the scrumptious breakfasts, great views, peaceful lifestyle and to renew friendships. Thanks.

Room Tip: Choice of 2 large ground floor rooms, but Annexe has easier direct access for those using a wheelchair.

What a beautiful place to stay, seculded, peaceful, yet only (max) 10 mins from M25!
We were looking for somewhere localish to stay for our wedding night, and Justine couldnt have been more helpful.
We stayed in the annexe, which has a seperate door to the rest of the house allowing you to come and go at your leisure. We were able to drop our car off the night before the wedding and we were able to let ourselves into the annexe the following night without having to disturb anyone, or anyone disturb us.
The room, more of a suite, had a kitchenette and sofa, shower room and everything else you would want in a room.
The full English breakfast was delicious and to order (from the night before).
It is the higher end price wise, but for a special occasion, it was perfect, we were only sorry we couldnt spend longer enjoying the area!

Totally blown away by this property! Stunning location. Very warm welcome. Both rooms beautifully decorated, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Delicious breakfast. Don't serve evening meal but they were more than happy for us to get takeaway delivered. Larger of the rooms has kitchen and living area. This is a fantastic place to stay made extra special by the beautiful location and wonderful hosts.

I stopped here for one night when on a walk between london and birmingham, its location right on the canal was ideal for me however it is a short drive or 30 min walk along the canal to the nearest town.

Room was lovely with good on suite bathroom, host was very pleasent and made you feel welcome instantly. Attached to the room is a large lounge area which you are free to use, this has several sofas to sit on, there is also a radio/stereo both in lounge but there is also another one in the bedroom so music can be enjoyed while in bed.

There is a nice garden which can be accessed through the lounge, it leads down to the canal where there is a wooden decking area that can be sat on, very pleasent as the sun goes down,

Breakfast was served in the lounge area in the morning and was tasty and filling.

A bit pricy for some as you are approacing hotel prices but well worth it.

This B&B is located about 2 miles outside of Rickmansworth in a lovely setting on the canal. It is very calm and quiet.

The rooms and beds are very comfortable and well thought out. We stayed in the Annexe which had a fully equipped kitchen if you wanted to do some cooking. It also has a nice shower (but no bath). Breakfast is served on the table in your room and the owner does a very good English breakfast.

You can borrow the owners bikes or canoes and they have a DVD library. The owner is sweet and helpful.

As we weren't driving, getting around in taxis added up, although we also got a fair bit of walking in along the canals.

Visit The Swan Inn in Denham for a lovely pub lunch about 2 hours walk along the canal.
