Went to this so-called Hotel and arrived around lunch time. We had travelled for more than 6 hours. We was not allowed in until 3:30pm. Our room was reasonably refined but a little worse for wear?
Shockingly, this pub type, so-called B&B did not serve nutritious, decent food (as the drinks bar & restaurant) was Winter closed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday) but surpisingly only offered sausage rolls and chips! What is this all about? Lazy Management, I suspect? The rude Manageress would only communicate via an intercom and would not meet us face to face.
She told us that the nearest village was only one mile away. It was 3.5. Bit of a difference if you had only Shank's Pony (walking) at you're disposal, as we did! We also did not get any breakfast, even though our Company had paid for it via the room price. They only serve Breakfast at 8:30 am. and we had to leave at 8:am Sharp. The Landlady's Daughter left us a doggie bag for the next Morning. The doggie bag is an appropriate term, due to it being only fit for a DOG! Bad and lazy Management with a laid back approach to work left us with an unpleasant stay. Stay away!

Firstly I would like to state we are an Inn not a hotel as you suggested and therefore provided what is expected of an Inn as opposed to a hotel. Secondly I would like to address your arrival. You arrived earlier than our stated check in time and were allowed into your room as soon as we realised you were on the premises. If you had rung the doorbell rather than sit in your van on the phone you would have been shown to your room earlier - mind reading abilities we do not advertise nor pocess. With regards to the being closed the night you stayed, yes we were, again this is clearly stated on our website and the website of the booking agent you booked with so maybe you should have booked elsewhere rather than arrive and then proced to complain. This is a seasonal business in a seasonal area. I would like to point out that although we were shut you were offered hot food in your room but you declined as you did'nt want to pay for it - again not something we can be held responsible for. With regards to the distance into Looe from ourselves I do not understand the problem. You had already told me the distance before you asked the question - so you asked me a question to which you already knew the answer to and then again went onto to complain, this I find rather anal.

Your next point with regards to meeting face to face - I did this with your colleague whilst you was on the phone (to your boss receiving a telling off - maybe this explains your bad humour) and I had the pleasure of meeting you when you asked the distance question and when I offered you the hot food you did'nt want to pay for. I think that makes this a moo point.

With regards to the breakfast bag that was your choice and a matter of opinion regarding the quality. It contained fresh fruit, a locally made breakfast wrap, drink and freshly baked crossiants, I am not sure what else you would expect for the price bracket we are in. Champagne tastes and lemonade pocket is the phrase that springs to mind. And again you have lied in your review because it was not left for you I personally handed it to you giving you plenty opportunity to complain "face to face" but it seems you would rather smile and then depart leaving an unfair and false review.

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband and daughter.

Accommodation excellent, very comfortable, even some new books provided in each room.

Had cooked breakfast and evening meal - very good food, varied selection, excellent value.

Will certainly stay here again, and can thoroughly recommend.

Booked a meal for 12 for my mums 70 birthday. We where spread all over the place not together. Asked to be moved so we could all sit together could not do that for us ( we should have left then) took over 30 minuets for the drinks to arrive the carvers was all full the beef was like a piece of old leather tough and chewy pork not cooked properly just a very bad experience. Sweet again over 40 miners to arrive my 4 and 6 yrs old children got served last. Made a complaint to a very rude owner avoid this place.

Waited 45 mins for warm dinners, full of fat, the fish swimming in oil and the chips not as
per shown in the menu. This is a basic pub experience and could do a whole lot better. Never again !!! Most facillities only available at management descection

We were delighted when we found the accommodation we had been allocated was the "Den", excellent accommodation which was spotless and clean. To make us feel more at home we had our own private patio.. The "man with the tattoes" - Stuart husband of Karen is a gentleman who works very hard in the establishment. They have made an marvellous job of the refurbishment and the dining room is a credit to the management. We had no complaintss whatsoever and the food served at both dinner and breakfast was very enjoyable, I recommend the sausages at breakfast..We will certainly visit again and hope the "Den" is available. Thanks Karen, Stuart and the staff for a very pleasant stay and oh yes we must not forget Karen's mum.

Room Tip: Ask for the "Den"

Had 2 wonderful meals here. The friendly welcome, great food and attention to detail after our first meal meant we had to go back. The food really was outstanding and really added to our holiday. If you have a young family and are in the area then you just have to eat here. The kids loved it to so when we come back to Cornwall next time we will definitely be visiting again. My advice is do the same, you'd be mad not to! :-)
