Black mould in main bedroomwith mould spurs on the wallpaper, the best so far that guest services could offer was 'sorry' we paid for 3 nights but left after 2. Activities are mediocre and the sport and leisure staff have attitude problems. The whole place is very 'chavvy' however the pathetic excuse of customer service with regards to the mould in the bedroom is the main reason for my poor review. People complain about center parcs being expensive but usually because they havent been, I can assure you that its worth every penny and the staff are all polite and helpful without even getting into the facilities. I have never cut my stay short with any short break until Ribby hall. Never ever wilI return

The holiday was only £215 for 4 nights in Rose cottage which was such a cheap price we thought, (our usual Exec Lodge at Centreparcs is more than double that). Rose cottage was immaculate, much more spacious than Centreparcs although it didn't have some of the modern gadgets that C/parcs have but it didn't bother us at all. The staff were all very polite, informative and courteous, excellent customer service from all staff. (Big heads up to the two entertainment staff girl/boy who did a really great job on the Thu night, our son loved it and winning a prize!). That auzzie dance/song was the highlight!! We used the pool every day, compared to c/parcs it's very small but luckily we went in March and it was fairly quiet in there. We enjoyed food at the Bar and grill for both lunch & dinner which is the place to go if you are taking kiddies as there is an amusement place attached and night entertainment, snooker tables etc. The lunch dining experience wasn't as good as night as the waitress messed up our order for our table of 7 and the music was blaring out way too loud for a restaurant with just a few tables in. The night meal we had was really nice (chicken noodle dish and fish & chips) really well presented and delicious! So for the downfalls, SOFTPLAY...... although my son loved it I was really annoyed at the lack of staff. It's totally unmanned down there, there is a clipboard where you have to sign in and for non holiday makers its a £2. When school was finished the soft play (not huge) would be overrun with much bigger kids (some clearly too big and boisterous to be using the soft play facilities). They clearly didn't pay anyone as there was no staff down there and we went twice a day at least for 4 days! So no wonder the locals come here cos it's free play for the kids! But as there were no staff there was nobody checking this and my son (3 yrs) would get upset when he couldn't play in the football area as the bigger kids had taken over plus he was a bit scared as they were very boisterous etc. Some kids (and adults too) stripped off their socks which put me right off the rules clearly stated keep socks on! I understand why Ribby Hall needs to open it's doors to locals but they need to staff the soft play and take money of the locals for the services and if there was a bit more staff presence then the they would see that bigger kids and teenagers were using the facilities too and taking over/scaring little kids & babies. A tip too..... the Papa Johns Pizzeria has a two for one offer on Tue and after soft play we went over to dine and yet again I would say that every table bar ours (when we eventually got one) and maybe one other table were holiday makers - the rest were wait for it.... non holiday makers and schoold kids and teenagers! So we had to wait about 30 mins for a table and then we were told another 45 mins wait time (more like 30) so if going on a Tue then you need to get there early or be prepared to wait a long time for a table & pizza!! One last gripe.... we had seen on previous trip advisor feedback that there were probs with no entertainment....when we arrived we were given a "whats on guide" to March and it said about entertainment in the bar & grill. On the Mon we double checked if it was on the Tue night and were told yes so we specifically tailored our sons rountine/nap/tea etc around the fact he would be staying up later but when we arrived at the venue it wasn't on! We got chatting to another table who were just as annoyed and said they had seen other families arrive and then go to see no entertainment.... so even though we had specifically asked about it - it never happened. Due to a late arrival on the Mon and we had family visiting on Wed we therefore only had one nights entertainment for our son on the Thur (which to be fair was really good!!).
Overall a lovely little good value break/change of scenery. Apart from soft play and swimming and the outdoor play area there really wasn't anything of interest to my soon to be 3 year old. The free Tumbletots session was really mainly for very small toddlers, my son preferred the soft play. He isn't that interested in the "see animals from the zoo". The nature walk was far too muddy for us (we forgot his wellies!) so I would suggest if you have very young kids then a trip out would break the holiday up nicely! We would defo return again for another cheap holiday or weekend away for change of scenery for a similar price but we won't be coming again for our main holiday as not enough going on for us.

Room Tip: 64 rose cottage had a view of garden/grass from living room which was nice as we noticed that some c...

We enjoyed a 3 night break at Ribby in March. The accommodation (Lavender Cottage) was spacious, clean and well equipped and the site itself was peaceful and well laid out. We enjoyed day trips to Lytham, Windermere, Blackpool and Fleetwood Outlet. The highlight of the trip was the excellent onsite eatery/bar 'The Restaurant', for which I have written a seperate review. I'm not a fan of Tea Rooms but the Lavender Tea Room on site was also great - immaculate and funkily decorated with a great choice of food (inc breakfasts) and cakes. I'd also recommend Orathai Thai Restaurant which is a 10/15 min walk from the site in Wrea Green village (though it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays).

My only criticism would be the lack of info provided in the accommodation re local attractions/eateries etc. And the lack of wifi was also slightly inconvenient but I'm sure that will be something that is provided in the fullness of time.

I'll also take this opportunity to say that the following are provided in the accommodation as I had tried to unsuccessfully find this out via trip advisor before departure - iron, hairdryer, towels, tea towels, washing up liquid, toilet rolls, basic shower gels.

Overall, a very good value trip, esp during term time if you don't have kids! :-)

Stayed in March with my wife and one year old daughter in a Poppy Cottage. We are seasoned Center Parcs veterans now and fancied a change. Much smaller site but accommodation equally as good and bigger internally and spotlessly clean throughout. Nice for midweek mon - fri break. Blackpool, Lytham and St Anne's within easy reach. All in all a nice stay with some issues. Remember that the site also open to none guests who use leisure facilities.

Positives : freindly staff, clean throughout, nice restaurants, good pool area, high standard of accommodation

Negatives: not enough activities, too much traffic on site, fight for car parking spaces with none guests, lack of leaflets or maps of nearby activities or area, no wifi, no tv in bedrooms, awful mobile reception

We decided to go here for the first time in Feb for my husbands birthday with our 2 sons who are 8 and 6. We stayed in cottage no.46 in the Willows. The cottage was very spacious and well equipped. We had a couple of issues witb pre-booking activities before we went but these were resolved once i contacted them through thrir facebook page! I think we picjed a good weekend to ho and it didnt seem as busy as previous reviews i had read! We played mini golf, rode the 4 man bike (not at all as easy as it looks!!!!!) the boys did fencing which they really enjoyed and multi sports which inly 4 turned up for so it was mostly football but they enjoyed it all the same. The evenibg entertainment was really good. We ate in the Bar and Grill on our second night my food was ok i thought it was expensive for what it was but my husbands and kids were nice!!! They enjoyed the swimming and the slides hiwever i think older kids may find the slides a little tame!! Perfect for me not too fast!! All in all a very enjoyable weekend and first visit and im sure we will return again! Please feel free to ask any questions i might be able to help with

I have just returned from a wonderful weekend at Ribby Hall for my 30th birthday which my wife organised with all my friends and family.

We stopped at no2 Pine Lodge which was fabulous and I would highly recommend to anyone.

On the Saturday evening we went for a lovely a la carte meal in the restaurant which was absolutely divine.

We will be returning in the near future, thank you for such a wonderful birthday.

Many Thanks
Graeme

This was our 4th stay at Ribby hall Village. After 3 previous outstanding stays at the village I Recommended it to other family members who decided to join us on this visit. our last visit was only two years ago but the cottages now look quite tired, dirty marks and scuffs over the walls, ripped bedding and we had a very large rip in our sofa. Our party had 3 cottages in total and all we're tired and one had a very strange musty smell. There were signs of some improvements being made but not what you would expect for 5 star.

We booked in for some activities and all were exceptional and reasonably priced, except for the water walkers which were a complete let down. We were given a refund quite quickly however. I would highly recommend The Restaurant for eating out, we had a lovely meal and extra treats such as cocktails which was lovely. The clubhouse was exceptional value for money and the lady who works there was fantastic and was very quick at getting all 11 meals out to us. Excellent going to say she works alone. The Bar and Grill however is very poor. We ate there on our last night and most of the food was inedible. We were sat very late to our table and waited ages for the food even though we had pre ordered 8 out of the 11 meals. The lead staff member was quite rude when we challenged paying the bill, but another member of staff quickly sorted us a large discount and was very apologetic.

I would highly recommend The Spa, it is amazing and was a real treat. All staff were exceptional.

On the whole our trip was good but a few too many negatives for us to ignore, and lots of maintenance issues that need looking into. (The toilets in The Bar and Grill are shocking and reminded me of toilets in a down market nightclub.) A big shame

Not sure we would be in a hurry to return to what was, our favourite place to holiday in the UK.

Room Tip: I would recommend stay at fishermans reach as these cottages are currently undergoing large upgrades...
