Just completed another first class stay at Highgate House. As someone who spends a lot of time in hotels there is one thing that irritates much more than the odd glitch with your room - poor customer service. This can not be said about the staff at Highgate, they go about their work in an efficient but most importantly friendly manner. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them and it's always a pleasure to stay at this venue. Well done to all the staff. I should mention the food as well, best breakfast I've ever eaten at a hotel.

Another excellent stay at Highgate House. Staff always friendly and welcoming and they cope marvellously with my gluten free requirements serving Genius bread wherever necessary. A real home from home as I spend so much time on the road.

We held our daughter's wedding at Highgate House last weekend and without exception everyone at the hotel was wonderful. They were constantly helpful and unobtrusive. We were never treated like a nuisance, no matter how many daft questions we asked. The hotel itself is a perfect venue for the slightly "different" wedding that my daughter wanted and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Special mention should go to Jo, the wedding co-ordinator and the chef Lee who made such delicious food! There was another event at the hotel and we were initially worried that this may be a problem. In the event we were completely unaware of anyone else at the hotel. Although this hotel appears to be a conference centre primarily, at the weekend, when the corporate types go home, it is a beautiful house with lots of character, making it ideal for weddings. We, unfortunately, only have one daughter, so we shall not be needing a wedding venue again, but we could certainly recommend Highgate House to anyone. They really know their stuff!

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main house for more character.

Thank you for your fantastic review from your daughters wedding last weekend at Highgate House.

I am so pleased that your daughter's wedding was a complete success.
The Baronial Hall and the Drawing Room, really is an ideal setting for a country house wedding.

We are very fortunate to have a fantastic team here and they all contribute to the Highgate experience .

Myself and the team look forward to welcoming you back to Highgate House in the near future

Costumer Service was great. If you have a problem they will try to fix it was fast a possible. The room was clean, a bit small. I was in room 156. The food was great, Alcohol is a bit pricey, I can not if its worth it or not. This is what I did not like about Highgate House....
1. Every other day, my hot water did not work
2. It was 8am and a fire alam went off, it was a drill no one knew but the staff. There were many people still sleep
3. The television signal is very weak
4. The Internet can be a bit slow, but its okay
5. If you have to take a taxi into town, it will cost £16.00

What I like about Highgate....
1. All you can drink coffee/tea/water/juice for free
2. It is outside of Northampton by about 8 miles
3. Friendly staff

We stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding at another venue nearby. I had asked to be upgraded to a room in the main house after reading other Tripadvisor reviews. However...oh dear we were taken to what I can only imagine must be the last resort room...it was number 120 and absolutely awful. It was dark, surrounded by 2 fire escapes and next to a noisy air conditioning unit. To be fair the staff were fantastic and found us an alternative room in the courtyard (which was very nice) when we returned from the wedding and could not be more helpful. Breakfast was first class. It was the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you

Room Tip: Ask lots of questions about your room when booking

Attended a conference but the staff were always there to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable. The room was comfortable, though I would have preferred a bath to a shower. The meals were all first class. the setting is idyllic, and if it was a little difficult to navigate round the site, there was a comprehensive map, and copies of this on various walls. My smoking companions enjoyed the comfortable roof covered and seating provided smoking corner. I appreciated round the clock hot drinks provided free in the bar - especially as the alcoholic drinks were a little pricy.

Very helpful staff-not so helpful terms and conditions. Having booked to attend a wedding I was dissappointed to find I paid substantially more for our room than if I'd booked it via a booking website, Equally I found out that although I'd been upgraded because of the high rate I'd paid, when I told them we were bringing a dog (it says pets are allowed on the website), we were then downgraded to an unrefurbished room as a consequence and asked to pay a £25 "deep cleansing " for the room to be cleaned post-dog. It doesn't say this on the website. However, when I pointed this out they kindly waived the fee. It was a lovely venue and although the rooms are very spread out our unrefurbished room was actually very nice and it was the best hotel breakfast ever.

Room Tip: If you're bringing a pet, don't forget there's an extra £25 to pay and check deals on ot...
