“Nice Venue”

We stayed here for a wedding. We had a room in the main building and was very pleased with what were given. The bed was very comfortable and it was very clean, the only down side was that the shower was handheld

Some people have complained about the interia being dated and worn, but it is an old building and the inside would look wrong if it was modern!

The three course wedding breakfast was lovely and the breakfast the next day was fabulous.

The grounds are great for a morning stroll and lovely to look out onto when you are having some down time.

You start to get the feeling when you drive up the hill to the property, it is like a real manor straight out of a 007 Bond movie. The property around was huge and manicured. I have never stayed in a manor before so it is quite exciting.

De Vere Venues is running it now and I am beginning to become a fan.

The lobby should be more opulent but it is not. The rooms are reasonably good, I will rate it as 3.75 stars. I had a little single room but the furnishing was fashionable and everything works. I like especially the toiletries.

Don't be fooled by the exterior, the interior is modern and functional.

One of the drawback is as mentioned by another reviewer, the left over food trays on the aisle.A rather large chicken drum bone left a deep impression since it was left over night and I walked passed it 5 times.

The other is the gym, when I entered it, I was astounded. Stark is all I can describe it. Don't misunderstand me, the gym is neither small nor ill equipped. It just looks ugly and out of place compared with rest of the hotel. Looks like an oversized prison cell. Why would an otherwise nice hotel have a gym that looks like that?

But I got a good deal on it and altogether, a good experience and I will return.

Room Tip: If you have luggage, request 1st floor because there is no lift and the staircase to 2nd floor is na...

Don't be fooled by the picture of the country house they show when you book. The whole hotel needs refurbishment I haven't ever seen a more disgusting carpet than in the hallways can't ever have been cleaned
Our room was dirty, sink cracked, shower screen broken and the previous rooms occupants room service dirty plates were outside our room when we checked in,and still there next day before we checked out.Don't think we had a cheap room either this was the best they had in the main house after we upgraded to avoid the hideous prison camp extension round the back, these are known as the contemporary garden rooms.Just book somewhere else

We stayed here last night and can only say what a gem of a hotel. Our room was perfect, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. Will definitely be back again and soon. The only downside was the menu in the restaurant was more suited to a Little Chef than a grand hotel and food took a while to be served. But the rest of the stay was perfect.

Room Tip: any of the king rooms.

One night business stay over. The main building is very traditional and in a beautiful setting. The room I was put in was situated in a separate building to one side of the hotel. I presume they use these rooms for delegates to conferences. The room was large and well appointed with big bathroom. WiFi worked well and free. Only downside was it was probably the hottest day of the year so far and when I got in there all the windows were closed and no air conditioning. It was unbearable! The staff kindly lent me a fan for the room.
I didn't eat in the restaurant but had the bar menu which I thought was very reasonably priced. A bonus was to eat outside on tables near the restaurant.
The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Free parking and plenty of spaces.
I got this hotel at a good rate on a Monday night. Looks quite expensive usually later in the week.

We stayed there for three nights on business and were fairly disappointed with the hotel. Firstly our room was one of the upper floor rooms way up in the eaves of the hotel. When we got into the room it resembled a sauna - a wall of heat literally hit you. The windows were tiny so, even when open, didn't let much air in but, to top it all, the heated towel rail had been left on all day! We couldn't turn the rail off from within the room and had to get a member of staff to do it from a central point. When we pointed out that our room was too hot the girl behind the desk seemed only vaguely concerned but did get a tiny fan sent to our room. We also noticed that one of the radiators in a stair well was on full blast (in the middle of a heat wave).
You can't use debit cards to open a tab so we were told we could pay as we went along. At the bar we were told they didn't have a debit card machine so had to go back to the reception desk to use the one there. The bar didn't open until 6pm. The breakfast was average but nothing amazing.
