Wow! It's about time Plymouth had a special restaurant. The food, service and.......wine were perfect, we actually booked up again whilst we there, we only had to wait 3 months for a Saturday night!!! Enjoy, we are lucky to have such a lovely restaurant. Lets ensure we shout from the rooftops about it xx

The food at The Treby Arms was exquisite. The portions are not enormous but the £16 three course lunch on Tues-Fri is a bargain.

We arrived about 20 mins early and were asked to wait in the bar with a drink until 1pm which was, I suppose, reasonable so as to space out the orders for the kitchen. Once seated, we were immediately asked (twice) if we'd decided on our drinks, and the drinks came straight away, but our food order was not taken until we had been at the table for 25 minutes and the service went at a very leisurely pace from then on. Of course, everything is cooked to order and we weren't in a hurry, so it didn't matter. Several times during the meal, a waitress enquired if we were 'all right for drinks', which was a touch pushy, I thought. When she took our pudding order, the waitress said 'you are lucky, because there are only four left'.

In short, the staff are perfectly pleasant and friendly but seemed rather inexperienced and not in the same league as the cooking, which is sublime.

Just visited the Treby Arms for the 4th time and we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent. Freshly cooked to order, wonderful flavours and superbly presented. We cannot fault anything - the quality of the food is excellent, the quantity just right - we have never gone home feeling hungry, all in all excellent value for money. The menu was great - a good selection of dishes top choose from, but not too many. Praise must also go to the front of house team for looking after us so well from the moment we arrived until we left. Very attentive but not overly so. I've had Treby's gone carrots twice now and it still makes me smile.

We recently ate at River Cottage and quite honestly you cannot compare the 2 - The Treby is a fine dining experience in every way and gets my vote every time, not so River Cottage - it was OK but we won't rush back. The prices are not that dissimilar - but I'd rather eat the food from Anton's team any day.

One review mentions the need for the Treby to 'maintain strong regular clientele' - we fall into that category and we will be back - in 2 weeks time for our next booking.

Keep doing what you're doing Anton & Claire - the best restaurant we've been to in a long time (and yes we have eaten in Michelin star establishments) and it's on our doorstep. Thank you.

We booked this table months ago, after we had seen the Master Chef finals. We were worried that the menu wouldn't be as tempting as some of the dishes Anton had created in that series. But, we were not disapppointed. There was a terrific choice and we had trouble making up our minds. What we chose was served beautifully and was utterly delicious. We could not fault anything about the food, the quantity, quality and amazing variety of tastes and combinations, and the service was excellent - polite and friendly women who were attentive and helpful. We're just sorry that we live in London, and can't visit more often. We would not hesitate to recommend the Treby Arms. We've dined in some Michelin star restaurants, and, today, we think that this place has beaten them all.

Having booked a table for 5 people long in advance and confirmed the details the day before, we were surprised to find the restaurant was only expecting 4 of us. The table we were then allocated was in the bar area, right in front of a roaring fire. It made a fantastic meal something to be endured rather than enjoyed. The food was delicious, meats tender, fish perfectly cooked and the only downside was the wretched table situation where we were gently roasted. We intend to return but will certainly specify a table in the restaurant area.
