Visited the Royal recently for lunch and to see if things had changed since the refurbishment and was very surprised so little had changed. The whole place could do with a good clean from top to bottom. The meals were OK nothing to go back for so wont be going back. The best bit about the visit were the staff who were all very friendly and attentive and the view over the Thames.

They are working to improve the place and really for the price it was OK - room was comfortable but a little cold the only heat being an electric blow heater - food was passable and service was good - as I say OK for the price

When we first arrived we were very underwhelmed with our spartan room. The room was very large, but not very comfortable. Especially considering the high price, we weren't very happy.

But, we decided to make the best of it and head down to the Riverbay Sports Bar and have a drink. The bar opens up on to the Thames, with views all the way to the London skyline. We got there right at sunset and had an amazing view with our drink. Once it was dark we went inside and got started talking to some of the employees and regulars and we loved them. We had a later night than we anticipated, and by the time we climbed up the stairs to bed we had permanent smiles on our faces and our sides hurt from laughing so much. Would definitely stay here again, if it's a night that Wes is bartending!
