The decor was disappointing, wallpaper dropping off, couldn't see the river view as dirt covers the outside window. It would have be forgiven if it was a 2* hotel or hostel. Thank goddess we were only staying for one night. The location was isolating & we had to wait over 15 minutes for rail crossing which is annoying when u r running late.

This is probably one of the most quirky places I stayed in and not sure if I liked it or not.
Stangly its situated in quite a pleasant location overlooking the river Thames not too far from the Dartford Crossing. Waterfront access along a cycle track and path to local RSPB marshland project & povided a good walk after a long drive. The surrounding area is a mixture if old cottages and newer council flats. Not a lot else there.
Its fits into the cheap and cheeful bracket and is not eveyones cup of tea. frequented by quite a lot on contractors the lauguage in the bar can get a ilttle ripe. Good pub grub and hearty breakfast.
As a one off I quite enjoyed it but the accomodation is little more than a hostal, pretty basic and could be cleaner but just passable. Not for the faint hearted or families

Room Tip: budget price place, no frills with pleasant view

We booked 3 rooms for 1 night, all with breakfast.

When we arrived, one room was in the main hotel and the other 2 were in the "cottages" across the car park.

The "cottages" (sound quiet nice) were nothing more than a room in a grubby student house-share. The key to open the main door was hard to use due to the lock fitted to broken door frame with huge splinters sticking out (clearly been kicked open at some point!)

Our room had no dressing table or chest of drawers. I had to live out of my overnight bag on the floor. There was 1 plug but no mirror other than the one in the bathroom, so drying and straightening hair was interesting as the lead didn't reach that far!

This room appeared to be recently refurbished, you could tell from the new shower and lack of mildew as in the other 2 rooms. The bathroom door would only shut with brute force and when it did there was a huge gap down the bottom half of it The curtains and bed linen served a purpose but were the cheapest, nastiest you can imagine.

The patio doors out to the builders yard had their own key which was not needed, as the slightest push or pull from either side was sufficient to open them!

The bed did not have a headboard but you knew exactly where yor head should be by the black greasy grubby stains on the wall behind it !

The tiles on the floor were very dirty and clearly recycled in a previous life as the stains on them no longer matched.

We had a lovely flat screen TV on the wall, but no remote control to turn it on with.

Dinner in the evening was surprisingly OK. We would have sat in the bar area but the TV was on so loud and the tables too sticky. We did however have to specially request knives, forks and salt and pepper (don't come as standard)

The toilets in the function room had no paper towels or hand drier, so they provided grubby hand towels for all to use which very soon became disgusting.

Breakfast was interesting.

Out of the 6 of us, only 2 were down for breakfast but the server said that wouldn't be a problem. (coincidence that the 4 of us not on the list paid cash and not card like the other 2?)

We were informed that all full english breakfasts come with toast, help yourself to tea, coffee, orange juice, cereal etc. (impressive for £6.95)

The orange juice ran out and was on a "once it's gone it's gone" basis
The tea mugs soon ran out, so if you wanted another cup you had to re-fill your last one.
We were eventually served 5 breakfasts out of 6, had to ask for our toast, and when it eventually arrived, (we only had 4 slices between 6 people, all other guests had been given 2 slices per person) it was burnt and very hard and cold. The 6th breakfast turned up eventually with the poor waiter (who was also the doorman the previous evening) apologizing that there are only 2 of them doing all.

The cleaner was continually marching through the restaurant carrying cleaning products and at one point dragging the upright hoover behind her.

The manager arrived, only assuming this by the big bunch of keys she had swinging from her neck, it was at this point that the tables started to have dirty plates removed from them that had been piling up in the hour we had sat there, not all were cleared before she came wandering back chomping on toast (must have been mine !!) then sat behind the bar to enjoy it !

At checkout, I was waiting in the empty lobby with my key, when the cleaner walked past, took the key from my hand, kept walking and said "cheers! See ya later ! "

I don't think so, do you!?

All in all, this hotel was very cheap - only £45 per room. it felt to me that the place is on its knees. There were a few staff working all roles, very friendly but very inefficient, unfortunately they did their best but it's just not good enough.

The rooms were not secure in any way and I would have felt safer to lock my valuables in the car and sleep in there !

Room Tip: Go to the Premier Inn up the road !

We stay in hotels every week, are rarely feel the need to write a review. But this place was like a hostel! I run a small firm and we certainly dont expect the Ritz for the amount we pay, but cleanliness costs very little. The staff seemed polite, but as soon as we went to the bedroom block I knew straight away this was not good. Walls and paintwork may have last been painted in 1978 era, the floor was floor tiles - most of which were lifting around the edges and all were filthy. This theme carried on into the bedroom, bathroom was minging, we couldnt really see out the window do to the condensation was between the double glazing. The guy working with me agreed that we should not bother eating in the hotel that night as we could only imagine the state of the kitchen going off what we had already encountered (and we always eat in the hotel we are staying at!!). We would have blocked booked this hotel for a number of weeks, but due to the state of it we looked elsewhere the next day. So note to the owners if you read this, The hotel would win a lot of repeat business travellers if you spent some coin and spruce it up. Scruffy!!!!

Room Tip: Unless theres nowhere else to stay, avoid this scruffy hole.

All of the staff that I met we're lovely, polite and efficient.

#Please Note- if you are wanting somewhere to stay when you are on the lash/ going to the darts at the Circus Tavern etc, this place is ideal#

That's all that I have to say that's positive.

Dirty, low quality accommodation. Didn't feel secure. As a destination, Purfleet is an absolute hole... Ok for work stays, but not really suitable for families.
