I live locally to the Royal Exchange and have used the restaurant about ten times since refurbishment. Under new owners this was an extensive development which turned a real dump into a beautiful country pub. Menu is decent, sourced locally. Always had a really good meal. I think their problem has been service. This has improved recently, and though still patchy, is acceptable in the main. My main gripe with the place is having to go up to the bar to pay at the end - it's often very crowded and really takes the shine off the experience. That said, it's a nice place and the food is top notch!
