Connemara Coast Hotel
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Furbo
Certificate of Excellence

The most outstanding aspect is the "can do" manner of the staff ...any query or request for help received a helpful reply in a natural (not over formalised) manner
The views are beautiful ...the back of the hotel looks across to the Co Clare coastline and if you are lucky the arran islands.
the beach at the hotel is of stones but not far up the road there is a sandy beach... a few min in a car and at a push it would be possible to walk (maybe 30 min)
There is untidy undergrowth surrounding the pathways down to the stoney beach but I think it is needed to filter the strong winds as there are very neat lawns nearer the hotel
the leisure centre is fine but more family leisure centre than superspa but staff again very nice
there are sofas to relax on just outside leisure centre and the views out the windows are very good.
the food is of a very high standard ...well presented with local choices and not drowned in heavy sauces.
We were offered a menu with options to pay extra for items on the a la carte menu ...not necessary as we were very happy with the choices on the menu offered for the 5
course dinner (four courses plus tea/coffee)
Most parts of the hotel seem to have been recently updated with light colours .but you can see in places darker furnishings.. they have a large amount of paintings prints and also old photos on the walls ...
There is a large library area but they have a large collection of old books (some collector items) and coffee table travel books but I did not see any sign of an area for sharing books as many holiday hotels have (exchange a read book for one left by another guest) With many of the guests worrying about weight in suitcases it might be a useful addition.

Just wanted to add a note for anyone booking this hotel on the basis of the outdoor jacuzzi shown on the hotel website - it doesn't exist!! Apparently it kept breaking down and was removed December 2011. There is an indoor pool (small) and indoor jacuzzi. The hotel itself was really nice, beautiful views and lovely big rooms (slightly dated décor but still nice). The hotel lobby and common areas are really nice with a lovely 'snooze area' upstairs to sit back and enjoy the views. We had a lovely meal as part of a 2 nights B&B + 1 dinner package (wine not included) and enjoyed the hotel very much aside from the disappointment of the non existent outdoor jacuzzi.

We stopped here as part of a Brendan tour vacation and we really loved this hotel. The food was delicious and service in the dining room was exemplary. Unfortunately we were only here one day, but will definitely return. Free wifi in the lobby, which is nice. The coonemara coast is so beautiful, I highly recommend this bit of luxury, ESP if you like an active lifestyle!

This hotel had many attributes to recommend it. The rooms were spacious and clean, the Wi-fi worked very well, the staff was courteous and helpful and the restaurant was excellent. Beautifully located on the beach with a nice walk to the waterfront.

3rd visit and as good as ever. Especially restaurant. Food quality as good as you shall get anywhere. Only downside is that bedroom doors have a tendency to slam when closed and there are tours leaving early in morning so be prepared for unexpected wake up.

We stayed here on our recent trip to Ireland, and we just adored this location. Our room looked out on the beautiful bay (and a random little field with cows!), and we really enjoyed walking the grounds. We found the decor to be very quaint and rustic in the rooms, very welcoming. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food, both breakfast and dinner!

I really liked the cozy little reading room, and spent some time unwinding there in the evening.

The room did need a little updating. There was some chipping in the paintwork, and some other areas of very mild disrepair. The only real complaint I have was that it was kind of a pain to actually get into the room with the key provided. This could be that I was just lacking the magic touch, or maybe ours was just a particularly difficult lock.

Myself, Daughter and 2 year old grandson spent 2 nights here in June.. From our arrival until we left the experience staying at this hotel was wonderful The staff were top class. My grandson lost the hat of his woody toy in the Cafe on the first day, when we went back the next morning to see if they found it.( not expecting it to turn up). Well it did , one of the staff picked it up and left it in Reception. One happy 2 year old. The restaurant and food was beautiful, and the staff were top class. We definately will be back.

Room Tip: Front of hotel, faces sea.
