Wonderful time in a very beautiful place. Conveniently located in the Galway area. Great breakfasts included and a wonderful bar with great food if you don't want the formal dining experience. Staff was very helpful in booking tour plans.

The room was delightful; the environment was incredible; and the staff was superb. Maura Lee in particular was personable, extremely helpful; and one the best acquaintances of our trip to Ireland.

Just a few minutes north of Galway and convenient to Connemara.

The food in the pub was very good and not unreasonably priced. My only somewhat negative comment is that the price of the breakfast was high for the fare, if you don't book the room with breakfast included.

A beautiful place at night, and we met some wonderful people in the sitting area.

Dear Gwalker555,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, we are very gladdened to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are also very happy to hear that you met new acquaintances in our sitting rooms. The Ffrench room and Reading room are delightful at this time of year! As twilight falls earlier we have lovely long evenings to enjoy by the fire and candlelight. I will pass on your thoughtful words to Maura Lee and everybody else here!

Hopefully we will see you back in Glenlo soon!

Warmest regards

Dare I sound like a broken record?? We also have to give huge kudos to the staff of Gleno Abbey Hotel, most notably Maura Lee! She went above and beyond to ensure our place on the Cliffs of Moher tour, and happily answered all of our questions about the area, the people, the history, etc. We encountered some of the friendliest people in Ireland, but Maura set the standard and we couldn't be happier to have met her and the rest of the great staff! The room was lovely, clean and quiet - the restaurant's food was fabulous, as was the Cellar Bar's. If Galway is one of your stops, you won't regret staying at Gleno Abbey!

Glenlo Abbey is BEAUTIFUL!

At check-in my girlfriend and I were greeted by a smiling and extremely friendly front desk lady who I have unfortunately forgotten her name, but she had short blonde hair. She was very kind and accommodating giving us great advice about visiting Connemara (absolutely STUNNING). Also the luggage porter was incredibly nice as well while giving us a tour of the hotel on the way to our room. Upon arrival to our room we found a very comfortable bed with very nice pillows and blankets. The room was a VERY large room for a standard room which was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was beautiful and very clean. One negative about the room which we found to be present in every hotel we stayed at while staying in Ireland was the shower curtain or lack there of. It was an accordion style glass window that did nothing to prevent water from spilling all over the floor every time you took a shower. This required you to get new towels everyday since every time you dried yourself you had to then dry the floor. The hotel could probably save money on new towels everyday if they would invest in better shower curtains/doors.

The Hotel is also a golf course which looked absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately i did not have time to take advantage of it :). But it was nice to stroll around for an afternoon walk, there is a pathway to a local river. They have an underground "cellar bar" which was very relaxing as well as 2 sitting rooms that were equally relaxing.

We did not dine at the hotel as we were on vacation and wanted to take in Ireland while we were there. We did speak with other people staying there that said the hotel food was good though. If you do leave the hotel in search of food head to Tom Sheridans pub, it is maybe 5 minutes from the hotel and is absolutely AMAZING!!!

I would definitely stay here again, actually if i do return to Ireland I will be!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glenlo Abbey. The Abbey is set on a beautiful property with a grand entrance. We received a warm reception from Maura and great guidance from the front desk on our travel plans. They were very knowledgable of the area and ready to help out in any way they could. Our room was spacious with a modern bathroom. The resident common rooms were comfortable and inviting. The Irish breakfast was superb and we really enjoyed the Oak Cellar bar. We had fun conversing with the other guests.

Hats off to Maura at the reception desk for going above what is considered excellent. Our party of four did not not have printed prepaid trip receipts including our dinner reservations at Glenlo. It was not on their computer that we had made such reservations, but Maura was able to contact and speak with our tour representative in the United States. All our prepaid receipts were e-mailed to Maura who gave them to us. Maura's understanding of the reservation system insured that the balance of our trip was perfect. The entire staff of the hotel and dinning room were extremely helpful.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely experience. When first arriving at the building and looking at the grounds, you can tell this place was not built yesterday. However, the ground and building are well maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They were incrediblyl accomodating and able to answere any question we had in regards to the area. The food was good. The pub was tucked in the basement and served the types of things you typically fiind, nothing unusual but still good quality. And of course they had a nice whiskey selection. The breakfast selections were excellent, tea and toast every morning, and eggs to order were wonderful.
Our room was large and clean, but the furnishings were outdated. The bed was comfortable and we never had any problems with noise, as some of the other reviewers had. Our room was in the back, on the ground floor. We awoke to the sun rising over the ground out our window which was quite nice. I cannot say enough about the staff. The manager said hello and checked on us daily, service was professional, efficient and incredibly personable.

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor, facing the oriental train. It was incredibly quiet.

Dear Gretabetta,

Thank you for your lovely review and for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor. What a beautiful view to wake up to! The sunrise streaming through your window, a rare enough event in Ireland making it all the more special as a memory. We do receive such wonderful feedback about breakfast for both the food and service alike. It is important to send our guests off for the day suitably sated.

Hopefully we may see you back in Glenlo in the future.

Warmest regards
