Ok so £45 a night, what are you expecting? Bathrooms are a bit tired but clean and everything works. Rooms basic but decent and modern decor. It is a great find for overnight before the tunnel early morning and they even give you a packed breakfast if you're leaving before 8 and its fab!! Staff so friendly. Only minus point is that because it an old building the rooms aren't particularly sound proof. We got woken up at 5am by the guys upstairs leaving but I don't think they were trying to be quiet anyhow! Decent little place, would stay again but walk into town for pubs and dinner, cheaper and nice!! We stayed in room 6.

We have just arrived home from our weekend in Sandgate. We stayed in the Sandgate Hotel and have had a great time.
The hotel staff were excellent, from checking in, evening in the bar and breakfast in the morning all the staff were friendly, helpful and very professional, they all made sure that our stay was a positive one and we will definitely be returning.

We were lucky enough to get a seaview room which was lovely. The rooms are the only thing that scored low with us, only because they are a bit tired - however they are clean and comfortable which is why we have chosen to give it an excellent overall.

The location is great, right on the beachfront and a stones throw away from a few other bars, restaurants and nightlife. The bus stop is right outside so you can easily travel into Folkestone, Canterbury etc

It is great value for money and would have happily stayed on and will be returning.

M20 snow left a choice of sleeping in the car or suffering a premier inn type experience in motorway hotel

We decided to crawl arround the traffic jam and look for a seaside b and b along the coast

The Sandgate was a great find . A late bar, perfect position on the sea front and friendly staff.

Rooms and housekeeping could use some polish but for the price paid, we were delighted

Booked the night before travelling and so took a bit of a risk. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff and throughout the stay, we could not fault the service. The room was big enough and clean. The only reason this hotel did not get an "excellent" vote is because the decor was a bit tired in places and I would not want to mislead other travellers. The food in the restaurant was excellent! Breakfast was very nice and on the evening that we ate in the restaurant, we were very impressed. This hotel is right on the sea front with just a narrow road between the front of the hotel and the beach. We wanted to travel around Kent and this was an excellent base as it is only a few minutes from the M20 motorway. Overall this was a very enjoyable experience and we would stay here again.

booked at the last minute for a night away from it all. for the price we cant complain , very friendly helpfull staff and opposite the sea for good walks with the dog and a lovelybreakfast . we went out for dinner and found a lovely friendly pub called the earl of clarringdon food was fantastic and all home made and very reasonably priced and it is less than 2mins wall away just behind the hotel up the side passage. not far to crawl after a few pints ... id definatly go back to both again soon...

Room Tip: rooms go by price sea view and balcony is more than a rear room without a view

Went for 2 nights in winter, right on the seafront with view out to sea from bedroom window, faint sounds of waves and night - very pleasant lobby with bar/reception, dining area, sofas, open fire + outside terrace overlooking sea with tables. Lovely staff. The room we stayed in was a bit tired if you look for it, bathroom fan rattled quite loudly when on, carpet tad grubby, few chips here n' there just little things but by no means disgusting or unclean, bed comfy. Sandgate itself really nice, long stretch of beach, lovely variety of buildings along the waterfront towards Sandgate township which has selection of cute pubs and restaurants, antique shops, people walking dogs, jogging, etc - very nice

If you want 4 -5 star luxury then this is not for you. But if you want 5 star customer service then you will go a long way to get any better than this, The staff are incredible from Lily T who fronts the managment team and is also a fantastic artist,To Dan the man and the lovely Poly Mcc who just make your stay that good that you want to come back for more. The Kitchen is very well run by Simon & Theo who never let you down in pushing the boundries with there culinary skills. The price is reflective of the Hotel but I stay there for the fantastic personalities the Hotel harbours.
