“Ideal when staying at the Premier Inn”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Breakfasts are fine as in most premier Inns, but the evening meals could be improved. Items appear regularly unavailable and whilst some staff are excellent, others are too casual in their approach.
We reserved a specific table for the next day, only to find it had been given away to someone else. We were then given a big spiel that tables can't be reserved (not what we were told by our very efficient waitress when she took our booking the previous evening) but to add insult to injury, were then seated next to a table with a 'reserved' sign on it!
OK, but room for improvement, particularly when it comes to staff training.

“Okayish...”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Service was good. Food came quickly, and was, in my eyes, in very good quality. However I thought the waiter was very sarcastic and when I asked questions about what goes in the food he replied rather cattily. All in all, I really enjoyed my meal here and would recommend it.

“Nice restaurant”
Reviewed November 27, 2013 via mobile

We booked a reservation for the restaurant as we were staying in the hotel.
Glad we booked a table as when we went down to eat the restaurant was telling people there was a 45 min wait.
The service was good, the food very good, and the bill very pleasant.
So if you want a nice meal then please book table table

“Table Table Tricks or Treats”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

The Smugglers likes to smuggle some of your portion. My partner and I always enjoyed a sundae sweet but on the last couple of visits noticed the use of a shallow dish instead of the tall sundae glass, (as shown on the menu) The excuse given by the waitress was that the tall glasses kept being broken. That is an insult to The Smugglers customers, and is suggesting they are particularly clumsy. Maybe the real excuse is that the portion was much smaller!!

When next ordering, I requested the sundae as shown in the menu: a tall glass. The sarcastic response came; 'We will have to find an unbroken glass'. When the sweet was served, further insult; 'Yes! There are a couple of extra marshmallows'. After writing a complaint, it took two further prompts before a grudging apology was received. The short portion aspect not mentioned.
What a shocking approach to the treatment of customers around Minster.

While The Smuggler is up to such tricks, I can highly recommend The Nelson Table Table in Norwich: Staff are energetic and friendly in approach, service is very good, as is the food. The Nelson is always a real treat.
