Called in for lunch and ordered Chicken Caesar Salad and Fish & Chips. Each cost around Β£10 so not cheap.

The chicken in the Ceasar Salad was tough as if it had been cooked and then stored in the fridge. The key ingredients of a Caesar Salad, croutons, Parmesan cheese and Caesar sauce were pretty much non existent.

The batter on the fish was pretty tasteless and the fish was soggy.

Two dishes that are relatively straight forward to produce at home and should be simple for any chef were very very poor.

My husband, myself and family phoned this pub and asked if they could accommodate 7 of us for Sunday lunch today. They asked what time, we said we could be there in 10 minutes that was not a problem. We arrived and were shown to a table already set up for us. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We placed our food and drinks order, the drinks arrived and then the food, the food was hot, fresh and tastey. The menu truly reflected the season with tastey starters e.g. pea and watercress soup and spring bubble and squeak with asparagus, poached egg and hollandaise sauce to name but a few. This was followed by a wonderful roast dinner accompanied by a homemade giant Yorkshire. We would have loved to have had one of the tempting sweets but were to full to even try perhaps next time. Many thanks to all the staff for brilliant attentive service. P.s. the drinks were also really good. Great setting, great food and great value.

Called in on the off chance on a Sunday lunchtime. I was told initially that the kitchen was busy an that we couldn’t eat sitting outside. Halfway through our drinks we stopped the waitress clearing the next table and she told us there was an outside menu and provided it, albeit with the rider that there was a large table and there could be a delay. I went to the bar to order the food and another round only to be told the kitchen was not taken any orders!! I cancelled the drinks order and we left. Not customer orientated.
