Stopped off here on our way to Sheringham. The twin room was fine. The breakfast could could not have been better. Most of all it was quite. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it was value for money and that is hard to find these day's. the garden was big and if you like pears this was the place to be.

I stayed at Rylton House for over a month as I was working close by. David and Jackie are very friendly and made me feel welcome straight away. My dog Frankie loved running around in their large garden and although he was a bit of a nuicence sometimes they were both great about it. I will be visiting the area for work again no doubt and hopefully Rylton House will have vacancies.

Room Tip: I stayed in both rooms 7 & 8 and both were very good

In almost every aspect Rylton House is as good a b&B as you'll find anywhere, in terms of cleanliness, level of service, value for money and quality of breakfast it would be difficult to beat and the hosts have achieved the right balance between friendly availability and over-attentiveness. Ok, the location isn't great for local interest but there is a great walk on its doorstep and, anyway, it was never our intention to spend our days in the town. The North Norfolk coast and the tranquillity of walks around The Wash are both a short drive away.

The reason for the 'almost' preface in the title has nothing to do with the location but more an unfortunate consequence of accommodating so many bathrooms in a house not designed for the purpose. Settling down for the night after a tiring, yet satisfying, day we were abruptly taken aback by the sudden sounds emitting from the plumbing of a neighbouring room which, for a while, was quite intrusive and loud enough to delay our desire to sleep. It turns out that one of the rooms has a toilet with a macerator to aid waste disposal and it was our misfortune that the occupants of that room seemed to feel the need to flush their toilet about six times in a half hour period around midnight!! It seems inconceivable that they weren't aware of the racket they were making but, being a seasoned traveller, it never ceases to amaze me of the lack of consideration of others when staying in any sort of accommodation.

Sadly, although the noise was created by those occupants, it does reflect on the b&b that this problem exists. As far as I'm concerned it is frustrating that I cannot give this establishment and its lovely host an unequivocal 'thumbs-up' as, apart from the above problem, it would be very much deserved.

In closing I would add that I would stay here again (armed with ear plugs) as this negative aspect is far out-weighed by the positives............of which you can include the wonderful welcome, the unexpected bottle of wine & card (to mark our anniversary) and the landlady's efforts to put my partners mind at rest when it looked like our bedroom window was locked in the open position (she has a pathological fear of spiders)........a roll of clingfilm to cover the gaps was produced....very much appreciated.

All in all a very relaxing stay.............I feel bad now that I even mentioned the gurgling, whooshing plumbing.

Room Tip: The one with the largest bathroom overlooking the garden (no.8?)

We stopped here one Sunday night and were welcomed on arrival with tea and biscuits. These were served in the nice, large and slightly abandoned looking garden which we appreciated.

Our room was compact but was very clean with comfy beds and overlooked the garden. We did have the walk through bathroom mentioned below but it didn't bother us since it was large and modern with a good shower. The loo without a door was slightly disconcerting, maybe not suitable for those travelling with new friends! The landlady was helpful and informative about the house and its interesting history.

Breakfast was served in the small dining room overlooking the garden. It was OK with good bacon but rather let down by the tomatoes. Why tinned tomatoes in the middle of Summer?!

We weren't much taken with the town, which seems to be one long street and nothing much happening, but there is a nice church, some interesting history and it is near lots of more 'glamorous' places. We ate at the excellent Indian restaurant five minutes walk away and had a delicious meal.

Overall a good spot if you are passing through.

Stayed here for one night, but will definately stay again. Dave & Jaqui made us feel so welcome, offering tea &biscuits in the beautiful garden on arrival. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated with plenty of storage. The ensuite was excellent and in a very contempory design. Breakfast was excellent, and available at a time that suited us. Highly recommend.

welcomed with a cuppa on arrival.after nearly 7 hours travel that was a great start ,sitting in a lovely garden to relax and unwind listening to the birds.room was large but bathroom a little small.good nights sleep followed by great english breakfast.we stayed a week with daily trips out in lincolnshire and norfolk and found it to be a great base to work from.the owners work hard to keep it clean and tidy...thanks for a great week and if in the area again we will come back without any hesitation...
