“Truly awesome hotel!”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Stayed one night at the Northey Arms and I have to say that is my only regret. Upon arrival the service was top notch. I didn't get the name of the manager but he showed my to my room and boy what a room! Beautifully furnished throughout with the most amazing bathroom I've experienced. Additionally if you get room 1 you're treated to your own private balcony/patio. Really lovely on a summer evening.

The room comes with complimentary water and Nespresso machine. If I'm being picky then the complimentary WiFi is patchy to slow to non-existent at best but works perfectly in the restaurant. Similarly there is no air con in the room so was a little warm initially. Thankfully the balcony was on hand to cool off.

Back to the bathroom, you have a rainfall wet room, deep tub and lovely stone detailing. The sheer size of Room 1 is incredible.

Ahh the restaurant! Pub food but at 5 star quality - delicious!

It's a little on the pricey side if you're staying on a Friday like I did, but if you are coming to bath YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE! There are only 5 rooms however, and the superior room I had was the one to go for. Its perfect for a romantic getaway.

The staff were very pleasant and attentive, especially the manager. Food delicious and extremely comfortable bed.

Love this hotel and would come back again

Room Tip: Room 1 - it has the personal balcony/patio

Chose this hotel in view of the positive reviews previously received and as a base for a two day visit to the Bath area. Although an older style building it has been very thoroughly modernised internally. The bar and dining area are very well presented and on the night we dined there it was very busy. The menu should meet most needs and we had difficulty in making a meal choice as there were several items that we would happily have ordered. Despite being busy the service was good and the choices arrived within an acceptable time and were delicious. The bedroom we occupied was a good size, modern and with a king size bed. The ensuite bathroom was very large with a dressing table area, stand alone bath and a large shower, probably one of the best bathrooms we have experienced. The only drawback was that the bedroom was at the front of the hotel adjacent to the busy main road. The earth certainly moved that night but through the vibration of the building everytime a large lorry passed by! It may be that this would not have been so noticeable had it not been such a warm night and the room had no air conditioning, other than a noisy but efficient free standing fan. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: If the bedrooms at the rear of the hotel are of an equal standard then request one of those for a mo...

What a pleasant surprise this spot turned out to be - located about 20 minutes outside of Bath (on a busy road) it turned out to be a terrific location to use as a base for our visit to Bath. The exterior of the building does not indicate the modern and contemporary feel that is displayed on the interior of the pub/restaurant or rooms. This is a beautifully decorated, up-to-date property...our king bed room was comfortable and super clean (average size), but the bathroom was astounding...huge! Stand alone soaker tub, walk-in shower, sit down make up area...spa-like finishings. If you require absolute quiet to sleep, this place isn't for you - with windows open (we visited during the heat wave and there was no air conditioning) we heard all the noise from passing vehicles...probably wouldn't be as much of an issue with closed windows. (Slept soundly myself) Morning breakfast gave good menu choices, mercifully not a bland buffet. Leave your car in the parking lot and hop a city bus into Bath and avoid the insane summer traffic and parking gridlock...the bus stop is in front of the hotel. Excellent value for money, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Select a rear room to avoid street noise if you aren't a sound sleeper.

The Northey Arms is an excellent base from which to visit the Bath; leave your car at the hotel and travel by one of the frequent buses (which stop outside the hotel) to and from the city. Our room was extremely comfortable with a spacious, well equipped bathroom. We enjoyed two good dinners in a packed restaurant (be sure to book a table). The management team and their entire staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotels in Bath are pricey and parking awkward so we chose the Northey to meet friends and then visit Bath. Our room (number 1) was spacious and had its own terrace, a comfy bed, coffee maker and super bathroom. The hotel has the A4 on one side and the railway on the other which makes it a bit noisy with the windows open, but fine with them closed. We ate dinner in the restaurant, good gastropub food, my rib-eye steak was excellent. In the morning we left our car in the large car park and took a bus into Bath, about 20mins, stop right outside the hotel!
