Description: This pub has recently undergone extensive renovation and redecoration, transforming it into one of Bath's most popular venues at which to eat, drink and stay. Having received Michelin and AA recognition, quality and consistency is the focus in the kitchen, where every ingredient is sourced through exhaustive research of our local suppliers by executive chef Chris Alderson. Our wine list is carefully chosen and we regularly feature guest ales and beers. We have recently expanded our accommodation facilities by adding five new beautiful rooms, including four new standard king size rooms and one superior family/twin room.

“Good gastro pub”

The Northey is a great place to drink and relax with good quality food served. There is nothing like a roaring fire to sit by and relax with a pint in a comfy chair after having eaten good food. Selection on the menu was extensive as was the wine list. We will come back when next in Bath and curl up by the fire with a pint in hand!

“Tucked away but good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

Good, sound food and a friendly atmosphere. It's tucked away near Box, which doesn't put it much on the man roads, but it's worth a slight detour.
Better run than its sister gastro-pub, the Crown near Dyrham N of Bath, it has a nice bar area and a good sized restaurant. Attentive staff and flexible over food allergies and preferences.
Definitely a pub trying to give a good service.

“Light lunch?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

Sandwiches costing £7 or £8! Like quite a few places the Northey loads up the plate of sandwiches or panini with chips. I'd like the option of paying less for less carbs. So I made do with a starter which was still pricey for what it was (tiny slices of roast John Dory and salad leaves) and pinched a few of my friend's chips to compensate.
Admittedly soup is available at £4.50 but soup with stilton in (yesterday)will not be a hit with everyone.
The ambience is ok, not cosy, better at night. Chairs are too low for the tables for those of us 5'5" or less! Suggest cushions are added.
Plentiful parking, service is fine.

“horrible food over priced!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

After reading trip advisors great reviews we decided to go to the northley rather than travel into Bath. The service was friendly but the food was not good. my partner had a shepards pie for £13 the pie filling was very dry with a mountain of rank tasting potato on the top. I had the tart starter with rocket and garlic bread for £10 which was ok but extremely over priced with no garlic on the garlic bread. We decided to have desert because the waitress highly recommended them. However my £6 egg custard tart served with sour cream? was horrible, soggy pastry with solid bland egg middle it was also supposed to contain cinnamon but i couldn't taste any would of been better buying one from Waitrose for 59p. My partner had panna cotta which was ok but contained no sugar so it lacked sweetness. We had one glass of wine each and i had a coffee the bill came to £56, I felt robbed. Next time ill continue the 5 miles into bath. The wine was nice but at £6.50 a glass so it should be!
