“Amazing value in an amazing place”

Our family regularly stay at Cobble Cottage, indeed I have written a review in the past about it - the contents of which are still valid. However, an update is called for so here goes.
Cobble Cottage is still amazing value for money and has been upgraded recently to include a new leather suite which is far more comfortable than its predecessor, new kitchen worktops, new TV, new fire, and the steep staircase now has a bannister made of rope from The Ropeworks in Hawes, the annoying lounge fire alarm has been replaced with one that does not activate on every occasion that the kitchen is used. I cannot see why but the double bed in the front bedroom also seems more comfortable than I can remember. In this day and age I believe that the owner should consider the provision of wi-fi access as the lack of it is a nuisance and could put potential visitors off booking. I regularly pass on details of this cottage to my friends and have no qualms whatsoever in recommending it to anyone thinking of visiting this delightful part of the country.

Thank you for your kind review. Wifi access can be made by liaising with the local pub (Sun Inn) and hotel (George and Dragon).

“Cosy, character cottage in idyllic location at a fair price.”
Reviewed December 27, 2012 for a stay in February 2011

My wife and I return, along with our pet dog, to Cobble Cottage annually, usually in February. We take our surviving parents on alternative years. The fact that we return every year should give all potential guests a clue as to this property's desirability. it is situated right in the centre of the delightful, olde world village of Dent. The stable door leads off the street straight into the lounge which is small but snug. A small kitchen alcove provides adequate facilities for preparing food and just about enough space to wash up afterwards. Meals are eaten at a small table next to the front window. Steep stairs lead to a landing from which the large bathroom and 2 bedrooms lead off. One bedroom comprises a double bed and the other smaller room bunk beds. All are adequately furnished and all bed linen is included in the price. We have just been informed by the owner that electricity is now included in the price, where previously heating was included but everything else was by a coin meter. This change makes the property even better value for money. A new washing machine and flat screen TV have also been installed. Heating is by night storage heaters which are so efficient that the electric lounge fire need only be switched on for effect rather than heat. Cobble Cottage is not perfect - for example there is no rear door or garden, there used to be a 'spaghetti junction' of wires to the TV/ stereo and much of the furnishings look like they need updating. The stairs are very steep and the kitchen area is a little dated. However, this delightful little gem is available for £250.00 per week !!! Gloriously situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and within an hour's drive of the Lake District. If this cottage was situated in Cornwall where we come from it would be £600 per week and fully booked up continually. Parking next to the cottage is a bit of a lottery but the owners thoughtfully provide a permit to park in the village car park 100 yards away.
If you want a relaxing break away and are not going to be hyper critical we suggest you give Cobble Cottage a try. If, however, you prefer more luxurious fittings and furnishings there are many other cottages in the dales, some in Dent, which will meet your needs but at a far greater cost.
