Myself and my young family stayed here for one night over the Diamond Jubilee weekend. From the moment we arrived we were made most welcome and directed to our accomodation with the minimum of fuss. Jules (the owner) was an outstanding host and nothing was too much trouble.
The room exceeded my expectations, and was designed, built, and maintained to a very high standard!
After unpacking following a very long drawn out, and stressful journey it was time to sample the restaurant for dinner. Our first impressions of the restaurant were good, very clean and tidy. Following this, and making our choice from a fantastic menu of culinary delights we were certainly not disappointed! All the food was very fresh and the vegetables in particular tasted so fresh you could be forgiven for thinking they were handpicked that very day! maybe they were! The waiting on staff were tremendous and very patient with our over- excited children aged 5 and 2. Once again nothing was too much trouble for them, and they were more than willing to accomodate their varied taste in food.
Following dinner my partner and the children were tired after a long day travelling, and retired to the room. This left me with the opportunity to sample a glass or two of the local cider served by yet again another friendly member of staff. This time a very respectful, and very attentive barman.
The next day it was time to leave, but not before sampling more delicious food for breakfast, again very fresh tasting, and served up to a very high standard.
I have to say leaving here was not easy,as myself and the family had very quickly become accustomed to life at the Holcombe Inn and its beautiful and picturesque surroundings. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place to anybody, and will certainly hope to be able to return there in the future. What a pleasure!

We came here for Sunday lunch - a special celebration meal for our son. Lovely surroundings spolied by a disappointing meal and poor service. My husband and I each chose a roast which arrived with cold vegetables and tepid meat. We sent both meals back and they were returned, having been warmed - but still not very hot - and minus the Yorkshire puds (They'd forgotten to put them back on after the microwaving). 5 minutes later the same happened to a couple on the next table - who also sent theirs back. At a cost of £12.95 you expect better - especially when the menu boasts "everything freshly cooked" . When we went to pay the bill they offered to take off £5 - but were persuaded to take off £12.95. Had they been hot I think the meals would have been very nice. Thankfully, our son enjoyed his meal.

I am really very sorry and disappointed that this customer did not have a great experience as we do our very best to make every customer experience go beyond expectations as our previous reviews suggest. Everything on our menu is absolutely freshly cooked and nothing microwaved ever. We have a great reputation for our Sunday roasts because of the quality of the produce and our cooking method. The local beef is cooked for 12 hours in a way that produces the most tender yet still rare beef. Vegetables are cooked with herbs from our garden, potatoes roasted in goose fat and the perfect Yorkshire pudding. Gravy is made from our own stock and reduced to give an intensity of flavour. Just this morning we have received a reservation for Fathers Day, the customer said they wanted to come to us because we are the only place who do a great Sunday lunch.
I can only apologise that the temperature of the food in this case was not hot enough and thank you for highlighting this point so that we can ensure it is corrected.

We stayed at The Holcombe recently for a 60th birthday. There were 8 adults, 2 children and a baby. It didn't matter what we asked for Jules and her team went out of their way to accommadate us. The meal in the evening was lovely, lamb especially beautiful. They really do have a great chef. There is a lovely lounge area with huge leather settes that we were able to take over later in the evening. Breakfast is first class with an abundance of toast, coffee and tea. the English breakfast was superb, fantastic sausages and bacon. Well worth the money. It is a little remote but that is the beauty of it. Although we didn't go walking there are lots of trails to visit.
Thanks again Jules. Sue,Della and the Turners

This a very nice B&B located just outside of Bath, be aware that it is not the easiest to find!

Our room was large, had a four poster bed. The room itself was probably in need of a little tlc but the main areas of the inn are very up to date and nice. The room also had wi-fi.

We had dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and both were very good. Overall I would definitely recommend this inn to travellers looking for a traditional English country B&B.

This Inn has greatly improved and is in a wonderful location. We thoroughly enjoyed the food but they don't seem to understand good customer service so we spent a lot of time chasing them for our food and the bill. The 'manager' who seemed to be doing very little, when approached about this just got the busy waitress to attend to us instead of seeing it as his job. This is a lovely Inn with good food with wonderful views.

Room Tip: Be clear that you expect good service - this is a great place to eat with family or groups of friend...

Decided to have a week end away and booked this on spec. We were not disappointed with the room, the meals and also (to my overall joy) the real ale they had.

What a gem. The welcome was although we had been before and were had returned as friends. The room was as it said in the brochure, comfortable and spacious. The food was excellent, so much so I ate too much (the only minor disappointment was that they had run out of one of the courses BUT this was because it was a popular dish and everyone wanted it). The place is well situated for local walks and is quiet. When we asked where to walk to, they gave us a number of maps of the area and also said if we got stuck (lost) then call and we will be collected. What service. We will be back.

Room Tip: Book the Oaks room. Slightly more expensive but worth the view towards the Abbey and also overlooks...
