We had a shopping day in Bath and were delighted to get out of the hustle and bustle to such a wonderful place as the Holcombe Inn. Our room Champagne, was really stylish with all the little touches that make it special. Champagne by the glass and reasonably priced started the evening off well and with a large selection of wines by the glass, my husband was impressed. Our meal was one of the best we have had and the owners were really friendly. All in all I would recommend this Inn to anyone who wants a really relaxing break.

Room Tip: Champagne room was really nice for a couple.

We stayed at the Holcombe Inn last night and we were not disappointed. The high standard of customer service and refurbishments really impressed us. The food was delicious both for dinner and breakfast and we would not hesitate to go back again. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing break. We stayed in the Old England room and it was roomy, warm and tastefully decorated and well stocked with refreshments and toiletries.

We stayed at the Holcombe Inn for one night, the quality and attention to detail was fantastic! The décor was lovely and with fresh coffee and cafetiere in the rooms we were very happy! Breakfast was also great, unfortunately we did not have a meal here but should we stay again we will definitely do this as the menu looked delicious. All in all a lovely stay and felt very welcomed by the owners.
We stayed in the Champagne room, but having a sneak peak at the African room I think we will try that room next time!
Thank you.

Room Tip: The African room looked amazing! But all rooms are high quality and the best beds i have slept in fo...

First of all, I urge you to totally discount any reviews of this hotel prior to February of this year when the business changed hands. We have stayed at the Holcombe Inn under the last owners, and I was not compelled to write a review which I think says enough. The scope of change therefore with the new owners is staggering. The rooms are excellent, very comfortable, extremely well appointed (especially the bathrooms) and beautifully decorated. 4 of us stayed in the Champagne Room with my 7 year old daughter sleeping on a large raised ledge (which was of course very exciting), and my 5 year old daughter on a good quality and comfortable z-bed.
It's the little touches that really make the difference though I think, like the bottles of spring water, fresh milk, ground coffee and a cafetiere as well as freeze dried coffee if you fancy. This goes hand in hand with big bottles of good quality bubble bath and shower gel as opposed to naff little sachets. Plenty of really good quality towels, more pillows than you need...I could go on. It's little things like this that many other hotels often miss a trick with, and is often the difference between a return visit or trying somewhere else.
The owners are great people, very accomodating, and all the staff whether family members or not genuinely make you feel like nothing is too much trouble.
And then there's the food. If you want an idea of what to expect, then visit the website and browse the menus as I did. Even having done so however, I was blown away by the quality of ingredients, the thoughtfulness and flair of the dishes, and the final execution on the plate was very well done and with the attention to detail you would expect in a restaurant charging 3 times as much for the food. We used to stay in Holcombe with friends and make the short trip to nearby Babbington House for a nice meal, whereas now, the short trip appears wasted as in my opinion Adam's food is just as good, but carried out with more flair and passion and is simply more exciting. A bold statement maybe, but if you strip away everything else and just talk food, I think the Holcombe Inn has it over on them.
All in all, in a very short period of time this place has changed for us from being a handy and comfortable place to stay without being anything to write home about, to a very special place that we will return to for pleasure rather than convenience. I just hope the prices stay there or thereabouts as at the moment it is incredible value for money both accomodation wise and certainly for the menus. If the guinea fowl is on the menu, then you are very lucky people indeed!

Room Tip: Champagne Room for a comfortable small family. Africa Room for weekends without the kids!

As soon as we entered the lobby and could smell the real log fire we felt at home. Jools has transformed this once tired village local into a stylish period gastro pub with rooms. We stayed in the Champagne room and celebrated a friends birthday over a very pleasant dinner produced using fresh local ingredients. Lots of country walks in the area (detailed in the bedroom guest pack) and a short car ride to Bath. Recommended.

We enjoyed a friendly welcome from the charming owner at the Holcombe Inn. Clean, newly refurbished , warm and quiet rooms. Fresh milk in the bedrooms a very good touch.
The dinner was excellent, creatively prepared and a good range of choices on the menu. Decent wine list though no Italian reds !
This is a very beautifull part of Somerset.
A great find.

What a find, my husband and I have just returned home after four wonderful days at the Inn. The rooms were excellent, beautifully decorated with every comfort. After a wonderful dinner on the first evening we could think of no better place to be. The food, service and staff were excellent. It was with some regret that we had to finally leave but it is certainly one place that we will be returning to again. For a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday this really is the place to go situated in the middle of the fantastic countryside yet within easy reach of Cheddar, Wells and Longleat.
