First impression at main hotel reception- not great. One lady on the phone so we waited, after about five minutes another lady did appear from the same room, very lacklustre welcome!

We then went for our light lunch, the choice was very limited compared to other hotel's weve visited recently. One main option and a few salad options. Basically you eat what your given. It was just ok...

The destination spa.... What a lovely area!
The receptionists are very professional. Very welcoming. Explained where we'll find everything.
We very much enjoyed all the facilities in the destination spa. The foot spas do not seem to work simultaneously, everyone seemed to be sharing one whilst the other didn't seem to work for a long time.
Lot's of fresh water available.
Even the original leisure facilities are lovely. Lovely warm pool and jacuzzi.
The best spa facilities we've visited.

We both had the fragipani wrap. I very much enjoyed mine whilst my husband said the therapist was excellent he would of much preferred a different option as this is definitely a feminine treatment. I did ask the spa in advanced whether he claims have another treatment but unfortunately this wasn't allowed.
The whole spa experience was very professional.
The hot tub seems to be the busiest facility but there was so much to do we weren't fussed.

Check in was quickly and professional.
The rooms are nice but nothing special.
Very clean. Soft towels. The bathroom was a little grubby in places.

Dinner- unfortunately this wasn't the best experience. We went to the brasserie as advised to find no one there. Waited and waited to then be told dinner is served elsewhere. Guest's need to be advised where to go!
First impressions- flustered staff!
Everyone was pleasant but we endured long waiting times.
We found the menu was incredibly fussy. Obviously going for 5+ restaurant standard but not everyone enjoys this type of food. From the look on people's faces we weren't the only ones looking for something less a la carte. Eventually opted for the salmon starter. It really wasn't pleasant.
Mains- we chose the cod. All cooked well but wasn't hot. No one came to ask how our meal was or to refill drinks.
The side of chips were cooked to death.
Mac and cheese- cold! It didn't taste very nice. This was refunded off the bill.
We did have the winter Cake when wasn't the best part of the meal.
Unfortunately service was severely lacking and serving tepid food for the price isn't acceptable.

Very quiet room. We did sleep well.

After our evening meal we really weren't expecting much for breakfast to be honested. However we were pleasantly surprised.
Food was very good quality. Hot and fresh. Tea and coffee being refilled.

Check out again at the main hotel- again lacklustre. How about asking did you enjoy your stay? Safe journey home!

So on the whole. Spa facilities and staff excellent.

Receptionist's in main hotel need to be much more helpful!

Improve service at dinner service!

Where can we start? We just could not wait to check out before writing this review, in fact we are still here booked on a two night "romantic" package stay but will be leaving first thing in the morning. The experience is nothing more than a Premier Inn and even the food there is better.

We booked the Romantic Package and were allocated a pretty average looking room. We had biscuits (uncovered) sitting in the room and no sign of any bubbly. We called down to reception to ask why this was not in our room for arrival as described in the booking, and she said "oh I'll get someone to bring it up". No apology at all. We waited but nobody came. In the end we went to the bar and on the way we asked that the bottle whenever it arrives be put in the room.

There is a wedding on here at the moment so not very quiet. In fact it's extremely noisy.

Now the worst of all was as we were checking in we were told our dinner reservation was at 18:30. We only arrived at 18:10 after needing to do a full day's work and finishing at 5pm. We were told by the receptionist that the dinner times are automatically allocated. We opted for the same menu in the bar as the restaurant as we wanted to have dinner later. The bar was noisy, the service was vertually non existent and the food was awful.

Let's talk about the food..

Starter was OK but the main meal, lamb was so tough I could not cut through it. The chips which were ordered had to be sent back due to them being chips that were refried. They were burnt and dry.

The wine was awful, it tasted like it had been opened for quite a few days and left in the fridge. This was changed for us but the replacement was no better. All very cheap and awful tasting.

The dessert was the final straw. It was a carrot ginger cake (not what we ordered) which was cold and very dry. We left this and paid for our meal (only extras as the 3 courses came with the package) and then we left. We have decided being at home is a much better experience so why waste the remaining of our weekend here only to be more disappointed.

Sorry but this hotel is not 4 star and the quality and service is terrible. Never again. Nescafe sachets in the rooms. Even the travel lodge has real coffee.

Tomorrow morning we are checking out a day early forfeiting the money because its that bad. Room 102.

When you’ve been on your feet all day at the NEC,this retreat is ideal to relax and get away from all the hustle and bustle.
Lovely grounds meet you upon your arrival, then after a swift check in by friendly staff, you are taken to your well appointment bedroom.
The food was excellent and a hearty breakfast set you up for another day at the NEC!
Will definitely return.
