“Truly wonderful”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

I often stay here on business and I have to say that it is good value for money, although some of the rooms are slightly tired e.g bedside lamp not working or plug detached from chain in sink etc.. all very minor in itself yet cheap and easy to put right so I am a little disappointed that it's not put right.
the restaurant is amazing. The quality of the food is just superb and reasonably priced too.
the staff are wonderful and very engaging and polite.
I've not seen or used the pool!

Do not let these minor niggles put you off your stay - every room is different and a little "quirky"

I just love this place

My partner and I got a brilliant deal here at Angmering Manor on Valentines evening, including a double room, a 3 course meal, breakfast, and use of the spa facilities all for just £159 - fantastic value!
Staff were all very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay.
There were 3-4 options for each course over dinner, which we enjoyed in a romantic setting amongst other loved up diners. Food was delicious, light music entertainment was lovely, and the waiting staff were simply wonderful - incredibly friendly and helpful.
Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious, well equipped with working facilities, and the bed was very comfy and cosy. They provided our room with towels, slippers and bath robes too. Our room looked out onto the back gardens which was a lovely view as well. We slept very well despite the storm outside.
Breakfast was also delicious, we both had a Full English and tea. However were a little disappointed with the breakfast setting. All the tables not being used hadnt been wiped or reset (we were one of the last tables to come down for breakfast but a cloth would have made the place look a little nicer), there was no music playing in the background to cover the noise of the kitchen or staff shouting in the kitchen (we heard every word) and one of the waitresses had her longer than shoulder-length hair down which Im sure is against health and safety when handling food and drink in a restaurant environment (Ive worked in a restaurant and this isnt very hygenic).
We didnt get to use the spa facilities during this stay but have previously and all have been adequate for the size and capacity of Angmering Manor.
Other than those points over breakfast, our stay with Angmering Manor exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back! Thank you to all who made it so perfect x

We had a celebratory dinner here in January and found the food and service excellent.
The choice althought limited was perfect and found the setting and staff attentive and pleasing.
Would recommended it for any formal occasion. Pricing acceptable for this type of resturant.

We have eaten in this reataurant half a dozen times and always enjoyed it.Last night,I went with my husband to a monthly "village supper night" at the hotel. It was £12 a head for the 2 courses and a glass of wine...no choices,it was Roast Pork and Pear and Almond tart, which was fine.We had been told to be there at 7.30pm,which we did.The lady who greeted us suggested we go straight to the table as the bar was full. There was only one other table occupied. The waitress asked us if we wanted our wine which went with the meal, which she brought staright away.We sat and we sat, gradually the tables filling up till it was full. There was no bread on the table and apart from seeing chef through the window having a smoke outside, there was nothing happening. Then the staff started bringing the included drinks out to all the other diners. At 8.18pm,45 minutes after we were seated, the food was served. The main course was,as ever, delicous although not having had a starter or bread,it was a small portion of 2 small slices of meat with the veg,as ever, underneath. There was just the faintest trace of apple sauce on the plate,my husband didn't even see his.The table next to us asked for more more apple sauce and was told there wasn't any!The pear and almond tart was served and it was indescribably dull.It looked like a piece of Bakewell tart without the jam or almonds. There was no decoration of any type on it or next to it...just a runny white sauce of some kind.I'm no cook, but even I could have added something to enliven the look of it.I am tee total but my husband said the red wine was"ok",nothing more. Most of the tables were 4 people and upwards who all seemed to be enjoying themselves but suddenly,at 9pm,while desserts were still being finished,a lady appeared out of the blue and started giving a talk ,in a very amateurish fashion about old Angmering All the happy chattering diners were captive at their tables and all conversation had to stop at once.My husband and I moved to the bar,but felt very awkward, like leaving a theatre early. From the bar,we could hear her going into detail about hanging and how you knew when people are dead! Although the history of the village may be of interest to some,we feel this was a totally inappropriate time and place and we were just grateful not have arranged to meet friends there for an evening of fine food and good conversation. There is no mention in the adverts for the evening of a lady giving a talk despite there being a talk every supper evening.
The staff were all friendly and helpful as ever. It then took 15 minutes, yes really,15 minutes,of 4 of us hunting through piles of coats that had been piled up on chairbacks in a little lounge because the coat cupboard was already full to bursting at the seams, for us to find our coats. Surely a free standing coat rack could be used on occasion...it was a very wet night and ALL the coats were wet. £12 a head is fine for the food and drink that we had, albeit the pudding was so lacking, but they should not tell people to get there at 7.30pm when dinner isn't till 8.15pm and open another jar of apple sauce when the only thing on offer is Roast Pork!

my wife and i with two friends spent new years eve at this fantastic hotel, although we have been here several times it excels itself each time, we arrived to a very warm welcome and shown to our room , well it was excellent like staying in a five star hotel very clean lovely bed linen very comfortable bed and the bathroom was sparkling clean with a double shower. going down to dinner was another delightful experience , the building being very old had a lovely atmosphere , the evening dinner dance was a wonderful experience the food very enjoyable the service like the food was first class, for the price we paid it was unbelievable value, it was so good we have already booked up for next new years eve however we will also visit several times throughout the year

Room Tip: any room would be excellent for quality and comfort. however it is a very old building there are no...

Lovely old building, clean and warm, lots of panelled walls which make it as dark as you would expect. Actually stiflingly hot inside on a mild day. Lots of corridors, stairs up and down and quirky spaces in this heritage building and no lift so there would be issues if you have mobility problems. Situated in this lovely old Sussex village. Staff briskly efficient.
I stayed on a quiet Wednesday and one smartly-dressed man was reception, barman, table waiter, and he even had the hotel phone with him. Worked well on a quiet day. Food in restaurant good quality and variety of choices and well presented, on hot plates. It's surprising how often hotels these days serve on cold plates. Breakfast - included - was limited choice, though hot food was freshly cooked. Room was small but adequate, clean and warm with all necessary facilities. Free wifi is a plus and increasingly expected in hotels these days.
It might be helpful for hotel to tell you that when you shut your room door it doesn't lock, you have to lock it after you leave. With the amount of technology carried these days this could be a security risk.
I didn't sample the spa treatments or the pool, so can't comment, but these are good facilities for a reasonably priced country hotel.
All in all a good quality experience at a reasonable price.
