Description: This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.

“Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

We treated guests to Sunday lunch at the George at were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome. The menu choice although small was perfectly balanced, cooked and presented to perfection. The service was attentive without being overbearing we shall certainly return.

“Quite possibly the best burger ever.....”
Reviewed August 10, 2014 via mobile

Booked here for dinner as recommended by local B&B where we were staying in Warningcamp, really lovely pub, owned & run by locals, very friendly staff, extremely helpful with the menu for my pregnancy dietary requirements, amazing food (can highly recommend the sweet chilli beef starter & burger with choice of toppings for main), lovely cosy atmosphere, would love our own village pub to be as good as this! Highly recommended. Advisable to book a table if eating.

“Best burger ever!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014 via mobile

Visited a few times and have always had the burger.
A hard place to get to if you want to enjoy a drink (taxi or get a friend to drive).
A lovely atmosphere.
Heard the old owners have left - ohh I do hope they left the burger recipe!
A great pub to dine at for a treat.

“Good food.”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

The food is good with average portions. The bar area seemed quite small. The pub has recently been taken over by a group of local families. It has been redecorated and looks set to be very good.
It is not near any other pubs and can get busy so I would advise booking. Sample menus are online.

“A long wait”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

We had friends visiting us for the weekend and were looking to give them an enjoyable meal out. Sadly it took half an hour for our food order to be taken and a further half an hour for the food to appear. The fact that the food was ok didn't make up for the long delay. On the following day we met our daughter who happened to say that she had had a similar experience, so be warned!
