Description: This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.

Finally found this lovely pub, situated 2 miles off the A27 outside Arundel, and were glad we made the journey.

We visited on the May bank holiday and the place was packed. The bar area is very small, but the 2 capable and charming bar staff seemed to take the volume of thirsty customers in theirs stride and service was friendly and efficient.

We wanted a snack so opted for the bread and olives with goats cheese. Nicely presented and good value. We'll definitely come back and sample the food properly when it's a bit quieter, although we were warned that booking is essential even on a weekday lunchtime.

The best thing about this pub is its location, set beside an immaculate cricket field with stunning views across to Arundel. The church is also worth a visit.

Lovely pub, looking forward to a return trip.

Well cooked and presented 'gastro pub' food with varied menu. The service was good and welcoming. The location of the restaurant is outstanding with views of the river Arun and the South Downs. Well worth a visit.

Ate here on a very busy Saturday in April, it was packed. We had booked but our food took an hour to arrive, and my steak and ale pie was full of pearl onions which in my opinion, completely spoilt the flavour, and the gravy -- far from being dark and rich -- was an off-putting orange colour and didn't taste of ale at all. My friend ordered pea risotto, which was very runny and frankly did not look as if it had been made with arborio rice. So very disappointed in the food, but liked the place, and staff were friendly and professional.

I would say to come here for the food and not just for a few drinks as they are quite expensive. They do however sell arundel brewery ales which is a plus and very local. Good sized dining areas and mostly for dining but there is seating outside at the front, parking at rear - easy to miss. Best to walk it from amberley however, or arundel train station and get the train?
