Description: This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.

“Great Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Having sampled sunday lunch in many different places I must say that The George serves an excellent Roast either beef or pork.
The vegetables were excellent and the roast potatoes were great.
The crackling served with the pork was according to my wife and fussy mother in law perfect.
Lunch is served up to 4.30 so one can go for a lovely walk and then have a superb linch.
The staff are very friendly and efficient and very welcoming.

“Very, very good”
Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

The restaurant we had booked originally was closed when we arrived and we were guided to this place. We are very glad we were; this place is fantastic. Very warm welcome, great menu, very good food, good wine list and a very friendly laid back atmosphere. We we return.

“Excellent lunch and friendly service”
Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

After a lovely walk on the downs we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the George. The welcome was very friendly and service good throughout. Our food in the airy attractive dining room was very good and the wines were excellent and obviously very carefully chosen. We have known this pub for many years and under its new management it should do very well if they continue to deliver as well as they did today. Highly recommended.
