We did a one day patisserie course in the cookery school, followed by dinner in the restaurant and a night in the hotel; the 'cook and stay' package.
The patisserie course was great - small class size of 6, lots of helpful tips, and we made 2 delicious cakes and a lemon tart. There was also a demonstration of raspberry souffles and macaron shells, both of which we got to eat (yum).
Lunch during the day was 3 courses (all of which feature on the menu in the restaurant) with a paired wine. It was delicious.
In the evening we had the 7 course tasting menu. It was incredible. Very inventive, lots of seasonal ingredients including herbs and vegetables from the hotel's garden, and a great balance of flavours in every dish. All to be expected given its reputation (and the cost) - but it certainly delivered.
The room was also great. It had a log-burning stove, which was lit for us when we returned from dinner. The bed was very comfortable.
The service throughout our stay was excellent. Friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We felt very welcome.
All in all it was a pretty expensive 27hrs, but - for a couple of foodies looking for an experience we wouldn't forget - it was worth every penny.
