This really is a place for a wonderful experience. We have eaten here before and once again the 9 course meal was a lovely experience to share with our guests. The food is fabulous and the service is perfect - it is always there, but does not intrude. The dining experience is amazing and the cheese selection is almost too much to take in.

Our room in the main building was very nice and full of those little touches that show you how hard they try to make your experience memorable. The gardens are very interesting and well worth exploring, they must be even better in the spring or summer!

Given how good everything is I was surprised by a very few things. The lighting in the bedroom is too low for any lady to make-up in, so the only choice is to monopolise the bathroom. And how hot the room was even with the radiator off and windows open (in February!) - there were 2 red hot pipes running through the room at floor level that you have no control of. Using the air conditioning to try and counteract them seemed a waste of energy! The buffet breakfast was very good, but the fresh omelette a real disappointment, it is hard to believe it came out of the same kitchen as the night before.

However, nothing could detract from the overall special experience. Thank you Le Manoir, we will be back.

From the personal attendant apparently waiting for us at the door as we arrived (much later than planned), to the bag of goodies placed in the car as we left, the service was superb.
The food was very nearly as expected from a 2-Michelin starred chef (when I unwrapped the bacon from my utterly heavenly venison, I could then taste it, rather than the bacon) served in lovely surroundings by an attentive and magnificently well-trained staff. An added bonus was the very charming M.Blanc gracing us with his presence at each table during dinner. What professionalism!
Our accommodation in the Dovecote was gloriously romantic and beautifully converted (M.Blanc designs everything), although being a dovecote, it doesn't have a plethora of windows for daytime light.
The grounds and architecture are beautiful, even in February. A veritable feast for all the senses.

Room Tip: Dovecote for complete privacy, high ceilings, and less obviously modern ambience - very romantic.

We took friends as a thank you and so wanted all the details to work out and the suites to be perfect. We have stayed several times before and had confidence in the Hotel's ability to deliver; we were not disappointed. The staff were gracious and plentiful but not overwhelming nor too deferential. Impressively the staff referred to us by name and also knew who our guests were also referring to them by name.

We ate dinner at the Crazy Bear one night (not somewhere we would bother with again) and in the Hotel restaurant the second night, the smaller tasting menu which was perfect with some excellent wine options (albeit nothing available at the cheaper end of the price range for the budget conscious). Breakfasts were very good with an excellent range of cooked options and home made produce.

This is an expensive place but it is reliable and delivers a consistently excellent product. Some of the public areas, in particular the dining room, could do with refreshing but I wouldn't let that put me off. The only suites we saw were Lavande and Lemongrass, both of which are in great shape.

Room Tip: For the authentic country house feel go for a suite in the main house

My husband and I celebrated my birthday with a weekend at Le Manoir. It is a beautiful property, with excellent service, a lovely restaurant and gorgeous rooms. There were many nice touches, including a beautiful fruit plate delivered to the room each day. Everyone was most gracious and kind and made our weekend truly memorable. We had a wonderful stay. Le Manoir is one of the best Relais and Chateaux properties we have stayed at, if not the best, and we've stayed in several. This is a special place - an oasis of calm and quiet luxury in the countryside, but close to the city.

Room Tip: We stayed in a gorgeous, new suite called Arabesque that overlooked a llama farm on one side. On th...

Dear JOSxx

Thank you for such lovely comments about your stay with us.
Arabesque is a beautiful and unique room, did you know the wall paper is made out of banana skins?

Have a wonderful day and we hope to see you soon in 2012.

Kind regards,

Raymond Blanc and the team at Le Manoir

We spent one night in the hotel as part of a package with dinner.
What stands out is the enthusiasm of the staff, there are almost too many of them - I felt crowded at times. The room was excellent; spotless, well equipped, tastefully furnished and with a wonderful deep bath. Super toiletries. Not good for headroom though, very tall folks might want to check this with the hotel beforehand. The HVAC unit was unnecessarily noisy, clunking and clicking all night. Breakfast in the morning was beautifully done, with an excellent selection of high quality food. Charging extra for the cooked course, though (and the portions are tiny) does gall a little. I would say that the general arrangements are not as slick as one would find in equivalent five star hotels in London and overseas; staff seem less organised and the awareness of the guest's requirements is not as precise as I've experienced elsewhere at this price point. It is a country house, and not a city centre hotel, but relaxed does not mean imprecision. Overall, I think we'll go back, it's not the best but it is up there with the best, although it is overpriced in real terms.
