As my daughter, Bridget and I wandered around Denbigh, in North Wales, we were looking for a place to get a bite to eat and then we were going to go visit Denbigh Castle. We have eaten in a couple of places in Denbigh on previous visits but wanted to find somewhere new. We strolled past a couple of places but they were closed ( such as The Forum). We decided to go look at the market and started to walk towards this little alleyway and there is was: Glass Onion Café!
What a delightful looking café this was, with tables outside and lots of beautiful flowers and very friendly people sitting and enjoying their lunch. We decided to give it a try.
We started talking to some of the locals and one lady in particular said they had the best food here and everything was delicious! After checking out the menu and the specials board inside, I decided to order the tuna, mozzarella and olive Panini, with a small bowl of the cauliflower and chedder soup and Bridget ordered the chicken Panini, also with the cauliflower and chedder soup. One great thing about the Glass Onion Café, you can bring your own alcoholic beverages to enjoy with your lunch!

Sue the owner brought out our soup first and it was delicious! Served with some nice crusty bread, it was soooooo good! Next came our Panini's, mine came with coleslaw and crisps and Bridget's came with a nice salad. Both sandwiches were great and I have to really rave about the coleslaw. It was the best I have had since I came to Wales. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of Peroni beer that Bridget went at bought at the Cooperative store. Sue brought us a couple of glasses and we enjoyed it with our delicious lunch.

Hats off to Sue and Martyn for having such a great hidden treasure of a café in Denbigh. Will definitely go back again and recommend it to anyone that visit the beautiful town of Denbigh!

( After lunch, we walked through town and made our way to the castle. Be warned if you are on foot, it is a very steep walk up to the castle, but it is worth it, the view is spectacular!! )

We stopped by for a coffee and snack on a recent cycle trip. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent coffee and delicious scones that were very elegantly presented alongside some lovely fresh strawberries! Would definitely recommend.

After arriving in Denbigh early for an appointment, we used our Trip Advisor app to find a tea room, it came up with the Glass Onion Cafe, what a great little place, couldn't ask for a warmer welcome, coffee was lovely and we had a nice chat with the owners.

We have been to the Onion on several occasions and would strongly recommend a visit, great coffees and meals, but equally important is the ambiance, and the proprietors, a lovely welcome by people who know what customer service is all about, always willing to chat no matter how busy they are, a great relaxing venue and a favourite of ours, give it a try you wont be disappointed.
