Description: CLOSED FOR THE SEASON Back mid March 2018 Lochleven Seafood Café, Deli and Gift Shop is situated on the north shores of beautiful Loch Leven3 (on the B86 in North Ballachulish) on the west coast in the Highlands of Scotland. Allowing the sea loch and mountain views to take centre stage alongside our simple yet elegant seafood dishes, our café is designed modest and unamusing. Live shellfish for our family run Restaurant and Deli is kept in onsite seawater tanks where the water is pumped continuously from the cold clean sea-loch on our shore. After being caught locally by our own fishing boats, the shellfish is stored in these tanks. This allows our Chefs to access the freshest possible west coast seafood for the Restaurant and our Deli.

We had planned to stop there and were not disappointed. Fresh and local food, the seafood was amazing, along with the decoration and the surrounding. For a more detailed review please have a look at my food blog here

Despite the sour welcome from the female owner Alison and the cold, music less, stark dining room atmosphere the fresh seafood is so incredibly good it's worth the visit. Do book as they are busy and they have a limited menu after 3.00pm. Did go twice - thought i'd just caught Alison having a bad day first day - second time she screamed abuse at her little girl for about ten minutes whilst we were trying to eat out lunch on the patio. Alison take a break! You're scaring people away...

we arrived after taking the long way round the loch by bicycle - were relieved that the atmosphere is informal - catering for a family of 5 from 10 years old upwards with little experience at seafood we loved what we had - son did have a massive steak but we were helped through what we ordered and how to eat it! Good value for money and very tasty food plus good wine list which didn't help the cycle home!

Beautifully fresh and pretty tasty food. Brown crab was particularly good. Shellfish soup very nice, razor shells a little under flavoured. The raspberry pannacotta was superb according to my wife who is an expert in these things. I preferred the choc brownie and ice cream. It is good that it is a little off the beaten track as they have a stunning view over the road to loch leven. Recommended for a long, lazy lunch in the summer sun.

This little restaurant is a twenty minute drive along some backroads from Fort William on the shore of a Loch. Considering its remote location we were surprised to see that it was packed and fully booked for the night. Fortunately we had made a reservation several weeks before.
The owners have their own fishing boats and fishing business so everything was very fresh. However, the food is also very good besides being fresh. The langoutines were outstanding. My scallops were cooked in a just a little too much butter but were still very good. It appeared that the best thing to do is to bite the bullet and order one of their more expensive large seafood trays for the table (which have every kind of seafood simply prepared).

We had homemade sorbet for dessert which was also excellent.

This place is a special find.
