My mum had booked this b&b for a wedding but it was cancelled due to snow but she'd already paid a deposit and so she offered it to us for our wedding anniversary. The only room left was a superior room so I don't know what the standard rooms were like but the superior one was fantastic. The B&B itself seems to be undergoing renovation as parts are very modern and other bits look a bit tired - but Julie, the owner, got it the right way round doing the rooms and sitting room first before addressing the hall and breakfast room. The sitting room is wonderful - light and airy, very comfy, modern furnishings with games & a tv. The room iself had everything you could possibly want in it. The bed was super comfy, fantastic flat screen tv, great tea & coffee facilities, robes, slippers and all amenities provided. The shower was an amazing walk in one with a waterfall shower - fantastic. The room, for a superior room was on the small side but you don't really go to the lake district to stay in your room! It's not right on the Ullswater lake, but the view is nice and there's a great taxi service that can take you to Glenridding or Pooley Bridge villages that are nearby. The breakfast was nice although the full English was a bit greasy. I'd say its a very comfy well renovated b&b in a good location for weddings at nearby hotels or to explore the surrounding countryside. It's not one for romantic hideaways as such and isn't great if you want to be in a Cumbrian town, within walking distance of amenities.

Room Tip: The superior rooms are worth the extra £10.

What can I say that's not already been said about this place.
The location is great with lovely views out onto the lake.
I booked here as a "stopover" on the way to Scotland & again for the journey back. I really wished we had stayed here for a couple of extra days.
Tea & coffee in the conservatory on our arrival was a nice touch also.
The rooms are furnished to high standard & very clean.
Loved the breakfast as well.
I can't recommend this place highly enough, it really is a great place to stay.
Perfect location for exploring around Ullswater & the other lakes.
Thanks to Julie (& Milly) for making our stay so welcoming.
We will be back very soon :)

A lovely B&B in a very beautiful location. Our double room was very comfortable but we did have a look at the newly refurbished bedrooms and they certainly had the WOW factor. Both were very tastefully furnished with wonderful views to the lake and one of them had a huge jacuzzi bath in the room. The breakfast was top notch, good quality food and plenty of choice. We would not hesitate to recommend this Guest House - it even has a bar!

My fiance took me to Cumbria for Valentines Day for a surpise. We stayed at the Ullswater View for one night. The location of the B&B is excellent. The guest house over-looks lake Ullswater, and you get a fantastic view or the surrounding hills and country side. On arrival, we were made to feel very welcome by the lady who owns the guest house. She was very friendly and helpful. She showed us to our room and then asked us to return back downstairs were she made us both a hot drink. We booked the basic room, which was very nice. We had a great view of the lake from our window. The room was neat and tidy. There was a kettle, hot chocolate, coffee, tea etc for us to use. The bed was very comfortable. By far the nicest bed I have ever slept in while being away from home. There was even a large flat screen TV on the wall. My fiance and I both felt very comfortable in the room we had. The owner of the guest house was happy to help us plan what to do with our time there. She told us about some nice places to visit. She was having some work done to the building at the time of our stay but it did not desturb us at all. The breakfast the following morning with excellent. You could help yourself to fresh juices, cereal, and yoghurt. The bread she used was all home made and very tasty. You could have a choice of a full breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast of a vegeterian option. You could have as much toast as you wanted and the same for tea and coffee. The food tasted great and was well presented. My fiance and I would both stay at the UllsWater few again. It is a warm and friendly place and great value for money.

Tony and Andrea, Huddersfield - 11th-13th February 2011
We first visited this guest house with friends 2 years ago and our return visit was long overdue. The guest house stands on it's own, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Ullswater Lake and the dramatic hillside backdrop of the Cumbrian Fells.
The place is still undergoing renovation work and redecoration, but don't let that put you off, as it is well worth a visit. The newly decorated rooms are of a high standard and are very comfortable and clean. There is a large conservatory in which to relax and enjoy the views over drink from the bar. There are some very good eating places within a 5 minute car journey.
The owner, Julie (and her little dog Milly), is very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. There is plenty of choice for breakfast, and she'll cook it to your exact requirements!
Looking forward to a return trip.
