Fantastic location, wonderful scenery. Staff are attentive and knowledgable.
Our room had a balcony lake view across the garden.
The room was comfortable, clean and well furnished.
The quality of food was of a high standard.
This was our first stay in this hotel, it will not be our last, highly recommended.

We stayed here on a two night travelzoo offer. The mid winter weather couldn't have been better, cloudless sky's for the whole stay!!! A rare treat compared our previous trips to the Lake District. The hotel is in a superb location, the views over the lake were stunning. food was good and plentiful. Room was comfortable. Will stay here again

On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of sherrry, a lovely touch. Being disabled on crutches i had asked for a ground floor room with not too far to walk and this was provided, the nearest possible to reception I think. The room was large and very comfortable, a little "shabby chic" in places but anything new and modern would be so out of place in this lovely old building.
The restaurant setting overlooking the lake is wonderful and the staff helpful and attentive. The menu was not to my palette, perhaps some simpler meals and a chicken dish would be an improvement, but the steak I chose to have each night tasted great. Portions are not large so this is not for big eaters but quality wins out over quantity. The menu is pricey but Macdonald hotels often have some great special offers so it is worth looking out for these. The breakfast was superb and no one would go from the table feeling hungry.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful hotel with good old fashioned hospitality. Thank you Leeming House.

Room Tip: Be aware that if you have dogs with you that food is not served outside. This is a fine dining restau...

This is a Macdonald hotel in what was a country house on the shores of Ulleswater. The public areas and rooms in the original building have that old world appeal which suits the architecture and as everything was clean and polished then that was fine with us. We enjoyed a weekend deal to celebrate my wifes birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is situated in an ideal location to explore Ulleswater and the Lake District as a whole.
We had a standard room which overlooked the car park. This room was large and comfortable with a flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilities, ironing board and trouser press. More expensive rooms at the front face the lake. We spoke to another guest who was well pleased with a ground floor executive room opening out onto the garden. He had a dog which was allowed into those rooms for £15 per night. We have read some reviews which criticise the cleanliness of the rooms. We can only speak as we find and our room and linen were clean.
We were treated courteously by the the staff and the lady at the reception desk took the time to explain about the hotel and about local information.
The breakfasts were great with a variety of hot and cold food. We had one evening dinner which we enjoyed. The drinks were pricey but then that is what you have to pay in a hotel. There was a very comfortable drawing room and library in which to enjoy an alcoholic drink or a coffee while looking out onto the gardens and lake.
We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Ist floor room overlooking the gardens and lake.

We visited here with the aim of having lunch. We normally eat at a nearby hotel but thought we would have a change.

The hotel really is very nice and the staff fantastic. However, the food was not good.
We ordered salmon sandwiches and received a plate with bread and salmon in the middle so I suppose it was a salmon sandwich, it came with a tiny amount of crisps and what the menu described as a side salad but in actual fact was some small bits of wet lettuce.

Ok, the sandwich, come on where is the zing where is the culinary expertise, I actually think some of the serving staff just knocked these up, and no I'm not kidding. Have you tried just eating salmon between two pieces of bread with a tiny bit butter...I got through two quarter sandwiches and couldn't eat ant more. They should have been on the "see how many of these you can eat in ten mins competitions" purely awful. If the sandwich wasn't bad enough a bit of lettuce does not constitute a salad and then it was only wet..no dressing and then a couple of crisps. Umm they really pushed the boat out on imagination and culinary skill for this lunch!

For the price this was appalling purely appalling especially for somewhere purporting to be a nice hotel. I would avoid this hotel there is obviously a reason not a single other person was eating there, when we were there, yet as we passed our usual haunt a few miles further down it was packed...

In summary the staff were nice, lovely building, nice view awful lunch.

Just had a one night stay at the Leeming House Hotel, wow what a location, we had a lovely bedroom with a balcony overlooking the formal gardens and water fountain, with the stunning backdrop of Ullswater and the dramatic scenery behind. The gardens are a delight to walk around and very well kept and presented. Our room and bathroom were spotless and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and helpful from check in to check out, they all seemed to try and go the extra mile. The service in the lounge and restaurant was seamless with some one always on hand to ensure you had everything you desired. The food at dinner was well presented and flavoursome and as an inclusive package good value for money, the drinks are a little pricey but you are in an unique and tranquil setting not a Wetherspoons!!!, so you do tend to expect that. Breakfast is great, plenty of choice from a buffet starter area to a freshly cooked to order hot breakfast choice, very attentive staff again. We will definitely be back
