Have eaten here a few times, reasonably priced, a couple of baguettes with chips and couple of drinks is just less than £20. However the first few times were excellent and then last time I have a Brie and bacon baguette which turned out to have 1 piece of bacon and a small amount of Brie so it was quite disappointing. All in all its a pub serving reasonable food, not sure why it comes up as the #1 place to eat in Ramsbottom

Hi there,

We don't reply to many reviews but would just like to say that if readers of this review would like to skim through other reviews it will be obvious that we certainly do not skimp on portions in The Major. If this oversight on our part was brought to the staffs attention at the time we would have gladly sorted it straight out.

Regards Stuart

We where just having a tour around a few bars and pubs in Ramsbottom when we stumbled across The Major, what a fantastic pub. The ale is superbly kept with a wide selection available but to top it all they had Ribble Valley Cider on draught, a truly spectacular pint.
The friendly staff and jovial clientele made for a very welcoming and enjoyable afternoon. Great fun was had by us all in the bar. Lancashire hospitality at its finest.

Came here for food and catch up... Very good menu choice, I had moussaka and my friend steak and ale pie. The food was plentyful and yummy. We had a bottle of wine and all for under 30 quid. Staff very nice and helpful. Very relaxed and not rushed. Thank you

Decided to call into The Major in Ramsbottom for food and was just served the best gammon I have ever eaten! Top quality produce cooked to perfection. I asked for salad instead of veg which was no problem at all. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and highly recommend to all.

We have eaten here many times - we are lucky enough to live in the area. The food is consistently good as is the beer and neither are overpriced. There is always a good atmosphere and the staff are cheerful and helpful. The only ciritcism I have is that sometimes you can't get a seat when they are really busy!!
