Description: Great British Pub of the Year 2018 and Sawday's Community Pub of 2019. We are a social enterprise that supports young people into hospitality and catering, as well as being a cracking good inn with quirky, modern accommodation, warm and honest hospitality and top notch home grown and local food. We have a great vegan and vegetarian menu too. Dogs are welcome in the bar and front room. Visit us and enjoy a touch of Lancashire hospitality!

The staff made my birthday. All the staff so polite, enthusiastic and determined to deliver the best service . The food was amazing and we were looked after all night.

We absolutely love staying here. The rooms are beautiful, and the little extra touches so thoughtful.

The food menu is really good, and weekend breakfast is all fresh and cooked to order.

Staff are always pleasant, and make it an enjoyable overnight stay.

After another amazing Xmas day at Eagle and Child (I had the venison) we called in for a bite to eat and had fish and chips for the first time. I'm not usually a fan of fish and chips but I think I can safely say this was the best I've ever had! Good crunchy batter, fresh fish and incredible home made tartar sauce!

Went on New Year's Day for lunch. Shown a table situated a dark corner so asked for a table in the conservatory. Nice meal, we both had duck excellent followed by a coconut rice pudding and apple crumble with custard. A good meal in pleasant surroundings. Service good and would go again.

I have eaten here before but the New Year experience was amazing. Yes it was the warm welcome and ambience. Of course it was the food, chose starters of lancashire rarebit, smoked salmon. For main beef and ale pie and the bream over lentil sauce and fried cod. Beautifully cooked . Bonus was the 2 local pipers for a traditional welcome to the New Year. All indicates a serious well run restaurant but the chance to know Glen the proprietor was very special, a young man with a social conscience and programe will motivate me to come back whenever in the area.
To end a perfect evening our precooked ( 1 am) Ramy taxi did not appear even with calls, so our delightfull waitress Emily offered to take us home - now that shows this IS more than just a pub. Why not support these amazing people who love what they are doing.
