“Fab food, great service”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

I have had the pleasure of eating at the Pheasant many times and thought I should tell others about how yummy the home-cooked food it, the owner is also the chef and he pours all his love into his food and it shows - its consistent, delicious and reliable - exactly what i want from a great eatery. best book to secure your table as it's popular (but not overcrowded)

“disappointed”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Have visited here quite often over the last couple of years & have always been happy with food and service. Ate with a group of friends and meals were a bit hit and miss. Steak & ale pie said to be fantastic, belly pork dry, fish was excellent but served with basil mash made with dried basil which was like eating wood.Butter sauce served with the fish was just melted butter which completely spoiled the meal. Service was slow, waited over 30 minutes for our orders to be taken. We were all settling down with after dinner coffee for a good old gossip when the sound system was switched on and a quiz started! We paid and left. Had we been told that Thusday night was quiz night we would not have booked, this is a village pub and has to cater for locals but just not condusive to a quiet meal. Will think twice before going there again as there are equally good places in the same area.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience on Thursday night. Our quiz night has been running for in excess off 6 years on a Thursday night & we do not tell people it is on, as it advertised around the pub on the blackboards, & the majority of people who book for a meal then stay & do the quiz. It does not start until around 9.30 which is after food service. I am also sorry the food was not to your liking & I have passed your comments on the Chef.

Once again I apologise & thank you for taking the time to comment.

“A very enjoyable Sunday Dinner!”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

There was plenty of choice on the menu but as it was a Sunday who could refuse the roast beef!

For my hearty appetite the amount of veg and roast potatoes served were a little on the small side but the staff were more than happy to fetch you more. The beef served was delicious and ample in portion size.

Prices were very reasonable being around £10-11 for two courses and £15 for three. They do have a very good website too,

I would book a table if going at prime meal times but they do serve food all day, which is nice because most pubs / restaurants do not.

A very enjoyable Sunday dinner.
