The landlord and his team provide the definitive country pub experience at The Plough. Convenient, but nicely tucked away too, it's a lovely old building with lots of character - nicely divided to allow everyone to enjoy their real ale or food in peace.

Can't recommend this place enough as an escape from the daily routine.

Never been to the Plough before, my family and i arrived to a very warm hospitable welcome from the staff, and myself and my mother were presented with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, which made mother and myself feel very special on our special day, the meal and drinks were served at a beautifully laid table with Daffodils at the center, food was cooked impeccably and served to us by the most welcoming pleasant accommodating female member of staff,
will defiantly go back to the plough next time we are in the area, and will be recommending the food to family members , Thankyou for making mothers day extra special

Went to the Plough on spec on a damp Wednesday evening. Lovely welcome and we were taken to a clean available table. Despite it being 2 gourmet burgers for £10 evening we elected to eat off the full menu. We started with a bountiful plough platter for two of tasty king prawns, whitebait and small battered fish pieces with garlic bread and sauces. Really good but very filling.
We both had the rib eye steaks, cooked as we ordered them with good chips and sides, nice quality ingredients well cooked and tasty. Wine was good as was the beer I had on arrival.
Sadly no room for deserts.
We will go back soon.

Found this pub after searching Google for somewhere to eat in the Chester area after our weekend away. Friendly staff and good value for money. Food was excellent and portion sizes were very good.

If I was to be picky, the only thing I would suggest is to alter your menu, as the Deli section states it is served weekends 12-5pm, but upon ordering, we found out this apparently does not include Sunday which is a bit odd. On the plus side, this resulted in me changing my order and I can say you do a very good Sweet Chilli Chicken & Veg Stir Fry! Highly recommended!

first of all we are from warrington and we found the plough whilst searching for a dog friendly pub where we could have a good walk.
onto the pub, clean as a whistle (i'm a carpet and upholstery cleaner) prompt service at the bar and they opened a tab immediately showed menus and order taken by waitress
food was excellent all 3 courses if it wasn't home made it appeared and tasted like it
landlord joked about one of our dogs barking even before he saw he is 4 months old and nothing like our 8 year old dog and never took it any further
in a nutshell this was as good a pub visit as we could have wished for and the food was 10/10
wife recieved an apology about dessert portion size until she made it clear that the portion wasn't the problem it was the fact that it was ordered to share between her and our daughter but on tasting it our daughter demolished it without my wife getting a second spoonful
