Very disappointing lunch, service absolutely dreadful. Food reasonable, would not visit again despite its close proximity to the M5.

“fantastic steak - eventually!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

There were 7 of us enjoying(?) a pre Christmas meal. There were 3 specials on the board but 2 of them had run out (we had arrived at 12.30) We had just a main course and some had sweets. I wouldn't say the place was particularly busy but we were there for 2 1/2 hours! The fillet steaks were fantastic but just took too long to arrive.

“Always excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

This is a hidden treasure. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is freshly cooked and always hits the mark, whether you decide on a sandwich, snack or one of the daily specials.

It may be worth booking if you are planning a special event as it is becoming very popular and gets filled quickly.

We had a meal in here recently whilst staying at the Crossover B&B, good food and atmosphere, fire was crackling and service was really good.

“Quaint, but food mediocre”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Lovely looking pub, very popular, very good service - staff helpful and friendly.
Food however was only mediocre which was a real disappointment.
Beer (real ale) was OK, again they could have had some better guest beers.........

We also stayed the night and I cannot recommend their accomodation. Our room was located on top of the wine cellar chiller unit which was really loud. The staff assured us that it would stop just after 10 pm, and not start until after 9am the following morning. It did stop just after 10pm, but the following morning (Sunday) it started at 7.48am ! Ruined any chance of a lie-in ! To cap it all,the TV locked itself in DVD mode and none of the buttons either on the TV or the (non-standard) remote would change this so I missed Match of the Day (rerun) [annoyed as Arsenal could only draw with Fulham 3-3, but at least plenty of goals to watch, but......]
