Always helpful this privately owned pub makes everyone welcome whether they come for a coffee or are staying for a few nights.diring our stay one night their kitchen was undergoing some work so they very kindly rang around to find a good place to eat

Staff couldn't have been friendlier or more efficient. Very clean, but it wasn't really what we were expecting. No ones fault but our own, both pensioners (but both fit and mobile) nearly 40 steps to our bedroom. Bedside cabinets painted orange boxes, no wardrobes just hooks on the wall. My husband said it reminded him of football changing rooms. Bare wood floor, looked orginal, but not not nice to get out to in morning. Very trendy just not our sort of thing. We like comfort. Only real complaint had to wait ages for breakfast, was told kitchen staff got order wrong and had to start again. as we were only breakfast customers not as if they were over stretched.

Room Tip: Make sure you can climb the stairs easily

I was down there in July. The staff was very friendly. Absolutely great! Have to try the wonderful menu. You can tell the chef put a lot of heart into it. The room is very carefully decorated a must go if you are around the area.

We looked for a place to have a small meal in Wye. Outside the Kings Head looked cold, but friendly service was the order of the day. Enjoyed the service provided by two helpful members of staff. The food served was well prepared and most welcome.

This is an old pub/hotel that seems to have been completely revamped to remorseless bistro style.
My bedroom was monastic in style; bed, small table and two upturned orange crates. The room, apart from the brown floorboards was unremitting gloss white, which in bright sunlight was quite strong. No cupboards, just wooden pegs on the walls to hang your clothes from. All that said, the bed was comfortable and, for one night, fine. The bathroom was equally white and trendy, but the water pressure was very low. Anyone washing long hair would have quite a task in front of them.

The bar area was fine, good beer and wine and I would recommend the home made pork scratchings to any fine diner.

I only ate breakfast which, like an earlier reviewer noted, was unacceptably tardy. I was the only person down at 8.00 am. Tea and juice was quickly delivered but of the cooked breakfast - no sight - despite a young chef coming in and out of the kitchen to ask the manager/owner something - "how do you cook bacon?" sprang to mind. When the food did arrive it was fine but very 'chef-ily' presented. Cutting bacon with a string of cherry tomatoes across your plate with a large dish of baked beans is not easy for the customer. That said, the food was fine. Breakfast should be of good quality (which, in fairness, it was), cooked promptly and presented for the customer to eat, not as a homage to a 'great chef'.

Overall it wasn't a bad experience and I would consider going again, it just could be better. Great location and a lovely village to visit.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front face south so I imagine can be quite warm in summer.
