Church Farm House Bed & Breakfast
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We decided to do a last minute trip to out of London and were accommodated at a days notice. The owners were very welcoming and looked after us very well. The room was lovely and cozy with an ensuite. We were provided with a delicious breakfast and felt very welcome and looked after. Would definitely book again, hopefully for longer!

Entry to our en-suite was up three steps with no handrail - tricky when using the bathroom during the night. No heating on in the morning. Shower difficult to adjust. Previous guests' rubbish still in bin. No hair-dryer. No offer of drinking water. We were given a small (uncovered) jug of milk for our tea tray as we arrived. The bed was comfortable although the bedding consisted of blankets and a heavy cotton bedspread. No local information in the room, just a couple of old Bride magazines. I like dogs but not under my feet at the breakfast table. Well cooked breakfast with plenty of choice.
We had an excellent meal at the King's Head over the road and wished we had stayed there instead!

If you want a relaxing weekend away in Norfolk look no further than a stay at Church Farm House in Great Bircham. A traditional little Farm House with a great range of local sightseeing and activities to do in the day. On arrival the hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly and proved very attentive throughout our stay. The room was affordable, spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The window looked onto a beautiful garden with a small duck pond! Breakfast was delicious and filled you up for the day ahead. The House is surrounded by vast fields which proved for picturesque walks in the mornings. Id suggest a short drive to the coast and Brancaster beach. Its also a close to Drive to the beautiful village Downham Market. Overall a really great stay and will definitely be returning again.

After booking a one night stay had 2 very excited little boys. Received a call at 11am on day of stay (whilst on beach) to say sorry had double booked and had no room available. Was offered alternative accommodation in what sounded like a friends bedroom and with no breakfast available! 2very disappointed little boys - very shoddy treatment and poor customer service. Found our own alternative accommodation!

Room Tip: Book elsewhere

We had a great stay here ... Room was beautiful ... Soft fluffy towels and a full hearty breakfast that kept us going until the evening. I would totally recommend it great value, very handy for the pub which is just over the road. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with great suggestions for local trips and places of interest. Definitely will return for a winter stay

The web site makes this place look really nice with comments such as "stylishly decorated rooms" we thought it would be perfect to meet up with our friends. The hosts were very friendly and when we explained we weren't doggy people they did keep the (well behaved) dog away. Breakfast was good and that's where the good things stop. to say the rooms were passed it would be an understatement, our sheets were clean but the rest of the room hadn't seen a duster for months - cobwebs everywhere and dusty. The magazines were from March 2012 - better not to have them than admit that that's the last time the room was cleaned properly! We had what we were told was a private bathroom which was down some (cobweb laden) stairs - could well have been the family bathroom we are not sure, again this was not clean - dirty towel, dirty bath and the bin unemptied - they did clean this whilst we were out having something to eat. The place was generally scruffy with "stuff" on the landings a few scented candles wouldn't go amiss once they have given the place a good clean. Keep a wide berth!

We stayed for 2 nights over a wedding weekend. The owners were very welcoming and the room comfortable and warm. There was a kettle, tea coffee and fresh milk laid out each day. The space was good, a separate bathroom next door with plenty of hot water and clean towels each day.
Breakfast was very good, fabulous scrambled eggs ...fresh from the chickens roaming the garden, good selection of cereals, yogurt and fruit. Period farmhouse rooms beautifully decorated. House set back from the road, easy parking. Good meals available at pub nearby. See entry for Kings Head.

Room Tip: The room with separate bathroom is at the back of the house and very quiet. The chickens and cockere...
