“nice place but bar not up to much”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

stayed here for one night. The price was good so we thought we would give it a try. Very spacious room with king size bed and en suite bathroom. tea/ coffee facilites. We had a room at the front and didnt really notice the road noise until the middle of the night.... we were woken at 4am by the noisy traffic thundering passed at 60mph... it was impossible to sleep after that.

Bar is not up to much but the lounge bar is better. Food is good but a little on the pricey side for what it is. all in all a good stay but wont be staying again due to the noisy rooms..

Arrived there with my golf group 4 nights ago. The hotel denied that we had a reservation. I showed him copies of the email confirmation. After admitting that it was in fact he that had taken my booking, he rather unapologetically told us that the hotel was full and that somehow we were not in the hotel diary. Thank goodness we had arrived early enough to move onward and find new accommodations on our own.

We held our wedding reception at The Greyhound, following on from my review in May 2011. it just keeps on getting better! Take no notice of the few terrible reviews. They are all submitted before the present owners took over and revamped everything about the place. I had room 11 on the eve of my wedding and room 16 for my wedding night. The rooms are excellent. I was oblivious to the road noise previously mentioned? The rooms are clean and modern. The bathrooms are clean and functional too. Plenty of hot water! As for a wedding receptionvenue, it is ideal. We held the reception in the conservatory, but had the run of the place, including the gardens. A family run hotel, it has an intimate and friendly feel. The staff are willing to join in the fun and nothing was too much trouble for them. I would recommend this hotel anytime.

we stayed here for a family wedding sat 15th July, we arrived on Friday and were shown to our rooms, very good value for money and plenty of space. The staff at the Ganton are very helpful and friendly and we have left there promising to go back, which we will. Being from out of the area they made us feel very welcome nothing was to much trouble for them. We ate at the pub on the Friday evening and the food was excellent, served by great staff. Wedding on the sat could not have gone better, the gardens are great for photos and again nothing to much trouble, Rob - the chef worked his socks off and the food was first class, I know we will be back to stay with Rob & Margaret at the Ganton great people, and to catch up with friends we now have in Yorkshire, thanks for making it a great weekend.

Clean and comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff and a very good restaurant. Meals were served in the bar or in a lovely conservatory overlooking a beautiful little garden. An excellent breakfast was served in a second equally lovely conservatory which also overlooked the garden. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it by an extra day.

The only negatives were that there's a busy road outside which might be a problem in warmer weather if the window is open, and that the furniture and carpet in our room (room 6) was a bit tired. The approach to the room - through a pool room and up a narrow staircase - seemed a bit odd, but it didn't detract from our overall satisfaction with the hotel. Hope to go back again sometime.........

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road if the weather's warm enough to warrant an open window

Stayed over this Bank holiday in a superior room which was on offer. The room was large witha King size bed which was as other reviews have mentioned a little on the firm side. We were at the side to the rear so not too much road noise from the a64 but the walls are very thin so you hear every squeak from the upstairs or side of you.
Overall at the special offer it was good value the breakfast was well cooked a little on the small side but you do have cereals and yoghurt too.
